Urban Rising: Where did you see the site plan? Is the parking garage then planned on the NE corner...a 1/4 block in size, similar to the garage just north of 44 Monroe?

It wouldn't be so bad if they did build it just on the 1/4 NE section, as 1st St in that area is dead and I don't see it getting better with that awful building across the street and the ASU parking garage directly north.

HX_Guy, neat photo sims. Now we need a building between OCPE and the Sheraton and the skyline from that angle will look neat.

The parking garage is actually connected to the office tower at OCPE and will be on the NE portion of the lot. If I remember correctly it was to have first floor retail as well.

There is plenty of room for another tower on that site.

Seems a bit off that they would put up the facade on the NE portion of the office tower to then take it down and build a parking garage attached to that section, no?

Correct, but who knows what the timetable is for construction of the garage. I still haven't heard any news regarding a tenant signing a lease, and until that happens there is no need for a garage. Quite frankly I wouldn't be surprised if the garage as a whole is put on hold for an extended timeframe until the vacancy rates (currently about 13% in downtown class A office) in this town and the economy get back to normalized conditions.

So completing the office structure with plans for demo at a later date doesn't seem that odd to me.

A recent article stated the garage would start construction in early spring 2009, which is while the tower is still under construction...that's why I thought it odd that they would put up the facade then take it back down while the tower is still going up. My only guess is that many potential tenants are complaining there is not enough parking which is prompting the parking garage?

Here is the article I'm referring to from Sept. 15th: http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepu...rk0915-ON.html

^ I agree about the nightness part. The garage facade came out as an unpleasant surprise, plus everywhere else they've been using glass it's come out really nice, my particular favorite being the light grayish green corner indents.

The highrise elevator core looks to have about 4 floors to go before that part of it is done.

You know how we were all upset about the seemingly new parking garage on the NE corner of the lot? Well...looking at a old model of the CPE project, it seems it was there all along...

Another 9 level garage minus the tower, I can hardly hold in my excitement.

They are now framing the 20th floor at OCPE and the elevator core seems to be at about the 24th floor. At this rate it should top out by about the last week of November. Still curious as to the final height.

I'll make you a friends bet that it tops out at 341'-8" plus or minus a few inches for construction tolerances.

I'm with Urban Rising on this one. From the photoshop pic I put together, though rough, it's probably pretty close to the end product and it shows Central Park East shorter then 44 Monroe which is 378'.

I can't wait to start to see the exterior of OCPE going up.....This is going to be a cool building. I also am excited to see the fins go on the garage portion.

Sometime next week I am going to bounce down to the City of Phoenix and pull out the approved building plans for OCPE. Unless I can call a few of my planner buddies over there and have them look it up for me! :-)

I believe the elevator core has topped out while the floors are reaching #22.

HX Guy,
Way to come through with great photos on a Friday afternoon! In the first picture, the Chase tower still dwarfs the finished elevator core of OCPE. Interesting perspective of scale........
