Spectacular pic!
That portapotty is awfully close to the edge, especially for the high winds we've been having. Would hate to take a 600' dive in that thing.

Does the contractor have a tree in waiting?

Just think, the Taipei building is 1,000' taller than the Independence.
When I lived there 60 years ago the tallest building was the MND (Ministry of National Defense), IIRC.

It looks soooooo much taller looking up than looking down at it. Too bad that wasn't a picture taken from the rooftop of another building....with a zoom lens.

Those are great. These aerial drone photos really show how good the views will be especially to the north. I like the views to the south with the water and far off views to the south, but the views to the north with the Capitol, UT Campus and West Campus, plus the hills and all that greenery is really kind of more enticing.

Now imagine South Shore Central and South Shore along Riverside built up with mid and highrises stretching to at least Pleasant Valley in the future and that view will be crazy.

Could slightly resemble Wilshire Blvd. In LA.

Will also look like an arm stretching across the river and I35 from Rainey Street to the southest.

I wonder how/if they're going to dress the parking garage up on this one. For such a prominent tower in Austin you'd think the base would be nice too. As far as I could tell from the renderings though, it doesn't look like it'll be anymore than what you see plus steel cable guards. I hope i'm wrong???

Here's the rendering from July 2014 - there's some screening and a living wall.

I believe they are. That mesh material is the same mesh going around the top and it's been en route for quite some time now.

Ugh. That screen is about as elegant as the screens for the garage at third/shoal. The livign wall is a nice touch, it'd be nice if it wrapped around the whole side. And once again, as seems to be typical for buildings in this area (except the library), it completely shuns the creek (no decorative screens facing the creek). As if the designers were thinking, who is gonna be seeing the building from back there? It's just a creek! Well, maybe people who want to walk along the creek trails that are being revitalized??!

It was a nice day so I decided to take my bird out. Here are a couple of close up pictures and a video:

Full resolution versions of all the pictures I took are on imgur: https://imgur.com/a/OkFkbVH

Farther away - it looks really tall from this angle.

Here is a short (57 sec) video:
