Yimby's article seems legit though.

Wow - here is to hoping they don't reduce the height to 680 feet. That would be extremely disappointing.

I would not be that hard on the guy. Newly filled permits are as official as it gets and supposedly trump all the previously known info. Could he wait to verify-sure but he nicely covered his bases by saying "A media inquiry to Related was not immediately returned". But no doubt we will soon get the whole picture

Even 1,227' is too short for such massive square footage! This should have been 1,600'/1,700' to the roof, minimum. What a waste of opportunity. The same applies for the Hudson Spire.

The South Tower is one stubby building too. Related sucks.

here is the wiki page for 55 water-687 ft, 53 stories, 3.5 million square feet. However, I still believe that the new 680ft figure for 30 Hudson was a mistake

Well, I wouldn't have minded so much, but the article was regarding a height reduction, which really tears at my heart strings.

Talk about killing the messenger. Sheesh. This reporter reported on the contents of an official city permit and gets attacked because it isn't the news that was anticipated. Sparkling's scenario sounds most likely the case. If anyone is at fault it's Related Companies for not commenting on information that's now in the public domain.

Interesting to note that the link has been taken down...

The 600 whatever foot reduction is not going to happen. That have planned every building around 30, so it looks like a mountain. It would make no sense. For sure a typo.

^Yeah, this would be the biggest disappointment and also the biggest high reduction. Considering heights of other HY towers, it just doesn't make sense.

Good thing it was a mistake. For a minute, I was having mild seizures. But if it was true, this would be a sacrilege. Probably comparable to the reduction on the height of Tower Verre, which was terrible.

I would not consider that journalism. Anyway, the internet, Curbed.com in this case, has produced a wealth of Hudson Yards photos taken last week during a media tour.

In this case it's a Max Touhey photo of the ~current state of the 30 HY site. Photo is looking south from 511 West 33rd Street, 30 HY site is the foreground, with the giant trusses to be placed south of the white LIRR building to bridge the 150 foot yard throat. I expect the 1st steel for this site to be going up in the next couple of months, but it will be for the overbuild platform to the west (photo right) of the 30 HY site itself. That platform will be used as a staging area to overbuild the LIRR building (minus it's second floor) and bridge the tracks, etc... That information was extracted from the March HY platform construction video which states that they wil build fomr both south AND north towards the middle.
Heck, who knows, maybe those big steel pieces in the foreground between the red crane and LIRR building are for that platform/staging area.

And I've heard rumors that they filed paperwork with the NYC DoB for 500 West 33rd Street :-)

Neiman Marcus to Debut in Manhattan at Hudson Yards

By Craig Giammona and David M. Levitt
Sep 3, 2014

Quote:
Neiman Marcus Group Ltd., the luxury-store chain based in Dallas, will open its first location in Manhattan in 2018, helping anchor the new Hudson Yards development on the far west side.

The 250,000-square-foot (23,000-square-meter) store will occupy three floors of a building in a retail complex called Shops at Hudson Yards, according to a statement today. The project is part of a 28-acre site being built by billionaire Stephen Ross’s Related Cos. and Oxford Properties Group that aims to bring 17 million square feet of development to the western edge of midtown Manhattan.

The $20 billion development, expected to be buoyed by the extension of the subway to 11th Avenue, is driving investment in a largely industrial enclave of Manhattan. The addition of Neiman Marcus brings a “seal of approval” by adding a high-profile luxury brand, said Kenneth Himmel, president of Related Urban, the New York-based firm’s mixed-used division.

“Certainly everyone that’s in the retail development business in this country understands what it means to deliver a Neiman Marcus as an anchor,” he said in a telephone interview. “And to do it in Manhattan magnifies the impact tenfold.”

Neiman Marcus will be part of a section between the towers along 10th Avenue. Himmel said he envisioned the department store at the center of a vast retail complex fed by the luxury developments along the High Line elevated park from the south and the new 7 line subway terminal from the north, plus some 50,000 workers filling the skyscrapers.

“Hudson Yards presents the ideal location for a Neiman Marcus store,” Karen Katz, president and chief executive officer of Neiman Marcus Group, said in a statement. “The project is a bold and innovative retail idea and one that complements how we view our Neiman Marcus brand.”

Nordstrom Inc., the Seattle-based department-store chain, also plans to open its first Manhattan location in 2018. The company will own and occupy the seven-story, 285,000-square-foot base of a tower to be built on West 57th Street near Carnegie Hall.

Himmel said Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus were the only two sizable upscale department store brands without New York stores, and their addition is “great for Manhattan.”

Incredible win for Related with Neiman Marcus! That's going to be a huge draw to Hudson Yards!

I notice they're now going with "92 stories" as well.
