Roma: Miketoronto's Trip to the Mother Country Part III

Some pictures from Roma, The Eternal City.

The Ancient Centre

The Vatican & Area

The Vatican Museums Map Gallery. Amazing maps.

The Trevi Area & Main Shopping Area of Central Roma.

An old Palace turned into a downtown mall

The Pantheon

Piazza Navona. A famous area to go out for dinner and a stroll in the evening.

Central Roma

The Spanish Steps & Piazza di Spagna area of Central Roma

One of the main shopping streets near the Spanish Steps. Many of the major shopping streets in central Roma are closed to cars. This street specializes in high end stores. The next street over specializes in food stores.

View from the top of the Spanish Steps

Back at street level

The Baths of Caracalla

The Roma Metro. Very overcrowded. The city only has two lines, with another under construction. One of the reasons for the long construction times and the limited lines, is all the ancient foundations found while boring tunnels. A local actually came over and told me not to take photos of the graffiti covered trains. They may look dirty, but they are still cool even if locals don't like them

Wow, Rome is such a different looking city from the modern world. Fascinating stuff. Would surely like to visit it someday. Thanks for the tour.

i was really surprised that the trains in rome were covered in graffiti. and the metro stations were so dingy. it was like visiting the 1970s new york i never got to see!
