1. Love the 1st pitch video. Nice clean scenes - not over-the-top.
2. Love the fact that it would be majority-women owned.
3. Don't like the location - AT ALL. The Riverfront - next to LaClede's Landing - to me - is a perfect fit.
4. Although accessible by MetroLink, Union Station location seems too cramped.
5. Don't like the location, but it does offer great potential for surrounding development to take place. Same with The Riverfront too.
6. I like the stadium's design - even though it appears to be conceptual.
7. There should be soccer park "village" with residential - a smaller version of Ballpark Village.
8. Before (and when) this goes through, the city should be ramping up talks for a "Below-Grand Boulevard" Downtown Streetcar. It would hit Wash Ave, Ballpark Village, Enterprise Center, The Riverfront, Union Station and Downtown West.

Just my two cents.

Downtown West's Fairfield Inn Begins Construction

Quote:
The Fairfield Inn project just received it's first building permit valued at $11 Million. The project moving forward presents a different vision than what was originally unveiled in February 2017. Those plans called for a rather suburban looking hotel of 5 floors overlooking the 22nd interchange. Now, those plans have seemed to have grown to a 7 floor hotel. The 6th and 7th floors appear to be for some overlook feature which means that Chiodini and Equis are taking the potential MLS Stadium into play here.

Just my two cents.
if that end of downtown weren't pretty close to jane jacobs worst nightmare (with the interchange/sunken expressway stub and the damage from urban renewal) i'd agree. i think more people probably interact with this area than north of lacledes landing, and it's really a mess. the stadium could really help to give it some life...i typically don't agree upon relying on megaprojects for that but this area could hardly get any worse, and it's such a high profile area within the central corridor.

i think it just seems like it might be cramped because of all of the large, horizontal structures, but i don't think that will be the case after completion. it's the most blown out, uncomfortably spacious section of the central corridor right now. i walked across market at night not long ago from the north, watching some trash blow like tumbleweeds from the lots. the area is a festering urban-design wound as-is, with a spectacular piece of 19th century architecture suffering at the edge of it.

Magic Mini Golf in the Delmar Loop Progressing

https://nextstl.com/2018/10/magic-mi...p-progressing/

Quote:
Joe Edwards’ latest endeavor, Magic Mini Golf, has taken more steps to fruition. The facility will contain an 18-hole mini golf course, a small Ferris Wheel, shuffleboard, other games, food, and drink. A $3.2M building permit was applied for on October 8th and plans submitted for review by the Preservation Review Board at its meeting October 22nd (Agenda).

A new two-story building will occupy the vacant lot at 6154 Delmar. It will attach to the former Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, purchased by Edwards in 2001, which will be rehabbed, and extend behind 6148-52 Delmar built in 2007, also owned by Edwards. There will be parking off the alley. The fence promoting a defunct African-American Cultural Center has fronted the lot since 2009. A gift from Emerson to the Missouri Historical Society announced in 2015 marked the end of that effort:

St. Louis Post-Dispatch – The new announcement, however, seems to mark an end to the effort to turn the old Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, on the east end of the Delmar Loop, into the long-discussed African-American Cultural Center.

The Cultural Resources Office is recommending “that the Preservation Board grant preliminary approval to the proposed design with the stipulation that building scale be reduced and front windows revised; and that final plans and exterior materials are reviewed and approved by CRO.”

If completed this will fill the penultimate missing tooth on the 6100 block of Delmar. The conspicuously empty lot at Delmar and Skinker endures. Time will tell when the empty buildings on the 6000 block of Delmar will be occupied, rehabbed, or redeveloped.

Before you ask, I don’t know when the Loop Trolley will start running.

Bluewood Brewing to Open Microbrewery on Cherokee

https://nextstl.com/2018/10/bluewood...y-on-cherokee/

Quote:
Six years after brewing their first beer, the owners of Bluewood Brewing have announced the opening of a full-scale microbrewery at 1821 Cherokee Street in the former Lemp brewery stables building.

Lease signed, and paperwork and approvals all underway… we have chosen our home as the old “Corner Gates” a.k.a the former “STL Stable” brewery! It is a beautiful property that neighbors the “Grand Hall ” being part of the Lemp historic properties. We are honored to be able to move into one of the most historic properties in the St. Louis area! The official address is 1821 Cherokee Street, and we could not be more excited to become part of the rich culture and history that thrives in the Cherokee district!

Bluewood Brewing specializes in in artisan barrel-aged beers and wild fermentation ales. The brewery will be the 2nd to open on Cherokee, joining Earthbound Brewing which opened last year in the former Cherokee Brewery building.

The grand opening is planned the first quarter of 2019.

Beast Craft BBQ Comes to St. Louis

http://jemastl.com/news/2017/8/8/beast-bbq

Quote:
Beast Craft BBQ is at long last opening a St. Louis location in the Grove. Originally from Belleville, IL, Beast has created a reputation as one of the region's top restaurants. The new restaurant will be called BEAST Butcher & Block

JEMA is the architect and interior designer for their new restaurant located at 4156 Manchester Avenue in The Grove. The new restaurant will be 6,000 sq. ft. and seat over 100.

The new location will feature "The Butchery" and "The Skullery" for customers. "The Butchery" will be a full-service butcher shop where customers can buy raw meats, prepared meals, fresh produce and baked goods from local purveyors. "The Skullery" will be a cross between "a chef's table concept and a research and development kitchen" and will allow Sandusky's team to collaborate with local chefs and pitmasters to seat up to 35 guests for a "unique dining experience," according to the release.

“Since late 2014, we’ve kept our heads down and focused on simple methods with incredible meats,” Sandusky said in the release. “We are the underdogs from Belleville who changed the game. We’re asked all of the time, ‘what’s next?’ The Grove is next. BEAST Butcher & Block represents an ambitious escalation of our passion for product and community. We’re not interested in being like anyone else, and The Grove shares those values.” - From the Belleville News Democrat, Press Release

Cross posted from the "Proposals Section"...

Homebase Partners, of Bozeman Montana, is planning to demolish the old Clayton Police HQ building at 227 South Central Avenue, in Clayton Missouri, for a 12 floors AC Hotel. This hotel will be the first new hotel in Downtown Clayton in over 20 years when it opens in Late 2020. Currently, the developer has a desire to break ground in the Spring of 2019 with the original plans presented in February 2018. This particular AC Hotel will be the third AC Brand in the region (behind Central West End [Proposed] and Downtown [Proposed] and will be the second property in St. Louis developed by Homebase (other is Central West End AC Hotel [Proposed]).

This particular hotel will be 196 rooms in size and will include a rooftop bar for the general public. There will be no street level retail (despite it being a block North of the MetroLink station). The hotel is right up against the massive Clayton Metro garage but the design takes that into consideration by not giving any hotel rooms that view. The Hotel is on the same block as the recently completed 212 South Meramec tower. The block is also the subject of a potential overhaul with new high rises and mid rises. The cost of the hotel is $45 million.

Story: https://www.buildingstlnews.com/the-...jXrEAD5vw05dZ0

This isn't a new project but just an update to the project that was unveiled earlier this year.
