I don't mind these especially compared to some of the other Claridge atrocities. Certain facades are a little too much of a mess but I do like the building thats a little more beige, specifically the little curve that comes out.

Question. Claridge Loop is listed as 70 Gloucester St. Are both towers (the one fronting Gloucester and the one fronting Nepean) part of the Loop project?

I kind of like the splash of red. Am I the only one?

I'm not sure the word 'splash' is right. Maybe 'slap'? Slap of red?

Loop looks like three or four different buildings here. It's not a bad building by any stretch (some may disagree), but it lacks cohesion. Claridge really loves these patchy designs. Started with Moon, which was done relatively well, but Loop, Moon and Royale take it to another level.

I'd rather have plain or boring than patchy and something incohesive. Part black, part beige, red mechanical penthouse, random balcony patterns, leftover teal section from Claridge Plaza? Like what the hell is going on?

Layering our skyline without layering our skyline.

I would prefer to see an interesting roofline and some type of crown/cornicing than these oddball decorative touches. The roofline of The Dale is great despite being simple. It makes the building.

I think Loop looks better in person than it does from a distant photo. The curved balconies are kind of neat. There is some high glaze black brick on there as well which is uncommon.

So the complete opposite of Icon, which looks good from a far (at least the south face), but terrible from up close.

Good up close for Loop might be a bit of a stretch. Let's just say it doesn't offend me. The red stuff is still a head scratcher.

Speaking of cohesion and patchy. I noticed this yesterday for the first time.

The outer balconies are fully caged but the inner balconies have glass sides. The fully caged balconies leave something to be desired with that perforated metal.

Interesting how the one column of balconies changes width. I feel like that double column would have been cheaper and easier to build using a single slab with a divider in the middle. I think it would look less awkward. Throw some angle on the balcony and glass the sides and you have an uncle named Robert.

It's still an OK building. I like the widened sidewalks and yes they did plant some trees. Looking at you MOON.

I'm not going to let this brick stuff go

Cheers

I can't, for the life of me, figure out WHO designed and approved this building and thought it was nice.

These last pictures just reinforces my thoughts and leaves my head scratching with these different materials, colours, mix-match styles, different balconies? Two types of railings?

There's more red than I thought! That rooftop amenity space looks like an awesome place to catch some rays!

They don't have a BBQ up there? My buddies low tier dumspter fire, fill in, you'll never even see it if you tried condo near Yonge and Bloor had a 24 hour concierge and a hard line natural gas feed BBQ on the roof.

Also had a pergola and ambient lighting.

Good to see people are fitting their single chairs out on their diving boards.

Edit: And also one perfect sized dog sh*tting pad.

I like how recessed the front of the building is on Nepean street. It really allows the block to breathe and not feel too crowded.
