Question Help: I'm going to visit 39 states this summer. What camera is the best + any advice?

Hi guys,

I'm Baker, 20 years old, I took a similar trip around 17 states in last October by bus and I took over 1500 pictures. My trips are focused on colleges and the cities of them. So the photos I'm going to take are for buildings, streets, downtowns, campuses, and that kind of stuff.

What kind of camera is the best for such a purpose? I don't have a camera yet.

Last time I had my friend's camera and it wasn't that great, it was Foji camera and digital.
But guys, I want to take very high quality photos so I can resize them and perhaps sell some of them.

I will appreciate any ideas or advice.

The Canon Digital Rebel is a quality camera and a good SLR starter.

That sounds like a hell of a trip, you better post your photos here!

There's nothing wrong with Nikon and the Panasonic Lumix.

Fuji, Kodak, even Sony.. that's a different story.

The Panasonic Lumix (lenses made by Leica)series gives you the most bang for your money, these little cameras out perform cameras from Nikon and Canon that cost 4 times more, also stock up on memory cards

Yeah, i was just joking.

I personally think a camera with a bright wide angle lens is best for urban photography. I suggest the Panasonic LX3 with its 24-60mm F2-F2.8 lens. Great lens, and the sensor performs very well too, with low noise. The sensor is very unique because it can capture images in three different aspect ratios - 3:2, 4:3, 16:9 - while retaining the full angle of view of the lens.
