update:
Lots of dirt turning at both sites. Also, looks like a crane base is up at the garage for old Post Office/Fed Building.

So with the former at&t head quarters filling up fast I wander if this is now a good time for someone or company to build a new office tower in DT. Looks like there is a demand and some new Class A office space would be nice.

Just a thought I had. Would be nice to see a new 35-45+ office tower in DT. There is plenty of room for sure...

I'd like to see some of the older stuff converted to residential.

There's a crane up for the new garage behind the old federal building.

The Children's Museum received a $20 million donation and is moving from Houston St to the old car dealership on Broadway @ Mulberry.

Good use of space in that area, I was hoping something that didn't involve a huge parking lot got built.

Does anybody know where AT&T is moving there downtown staff, is it still in/near downtown or within San Antonio at all? The Business Journal says they will be vacating 433,000 sq ft of space (the office buildings on McCullough downtown) by April 2012 but as I am not a subscriber I can't view the rest of the article.

Question answered.

"The plan is to move 700 employees out of two buildings it currently leases at 500 and 530 McCullough Ave., said Adrianna Bernal, director of public affairs for AT&T in Texas. Those employees, which work in finance, mobility, sales and operations business units, will be transferred to other AT&T locations at 1010 North St. Mary's St. and 4119 Broadway. A small number of employees also will be transferred to the company's headquarters in Dallas, Bernal said."

I thought this looked interesting, it won a studio award from the San Antonio chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Essentially a studio award is for conceptual and unbuilt projects, more info here... http://www.mysanantonio.com/business...#photo-1728071

For that space between the Holiday Inn and Courtyard by Marriott. As a conceptual drawing it's kinda neat to think that something cool can fit in that small space. Oh well, it gives an idea at least

I love that each unit has a balcony. For me that is a must have. Esp from the 3rd and 4th floor. Some nice views to the south...

Does anybody have any further knowledge of this mixed-use development? It's proposed as a civic center mixed-use development and I wonder if this has any connection to eventual plans for more city offices, and well the residential component also hits the goals of SA2020. This info is from June 2010 so I wonder how fresh this really is.

It looks like the site is over those old two story buildings at Flores and Market. The HDRC would never allow those to be torn down (and rightly so in my opinion).

I thought about that too but there is a ground floor and second floor layout and it appears to show those buildings staying there and keeping them as retail/flex space uses. The actual high rise portion begins on the third floor with the parking lot between/behind the existing buildings serving as the first floors of a parking garage which the residential/office component will be built on.

I like this idea just not sure if it's still being considered since this info is from a year and a half ago.

Nearly every local architecture firm has a mixed-use large scale or high-rise redevelopment sample for their portfolio. That's probably what this is.

ZDA has a bunch:
http://zdaarchitecture.com/Residential.aspx

Levy has a small one: http://www.levyarchitects.com/projec...Mixed-use.html

Until a developer is attached I have my doubts about this project ever getting off the drawing board.
