I think thats just concrete. They have a cladding mockup wall off of Commissioner Street. Its definitely darker than that from what I saw.

I once again find myself asking:

Why wasn't bus-passenger shelter and seating built into the ground floor of this public facility or its landscaping?

This must completely change the feeling of this end of downtown.

Not something we do a lot. The only example I can think of the the former Laurier Transitway stop integrated with the Desmarais Building at uOttawa.

The City couldn't even figure out how to integrate bus facilities with O-Train Stations.

It really does.

Pictures don't do the size of this building justice. I was walking westward on Slater and the building cut quite the impressive figure. I'm quite excited for it.

It's not difficult, but the city refuses to do anything of the sort even when building new city-owned facilities.

Bus passengers really do not matter.

That's the money shot. Too bad the Claridge building is so damn basic (upgraded from ugly when it was first built).

Is it really that bad? There are so many worse Ottawa buildings than these.

I personally love the "orange beige" portion of this Claridge project!

When they were built, I think the general consensus is that these were absolute garbage. Over the years, they've come to be somewhat appreciated compared to the legions of faceless charcoal brick boxes.
