The cantilevered steel structure is up. I'm thinking this place could end up being a popular spot to shoot sci-fi scenes when it's done.

Great shot! I hope you didn't get wet while taking it

I was wearing waterproof sandals. With Westboro Beach closed, Richmond Landing has been my regular put-in spot for a kayak.

It will be interesting to see the finished product. Still not convinced that screen will work.

I think it would be nice if they planted vines to grow up the screen. It would help blend it better into the escarpment and the leaves in the summer would keep the metal from heating up. Even in the winter without foliage the creeping branches would add some natural randomness to the mesh.

I wonder if the screen could safely bear the weight ...

That would be great if possible.

Just noticed the other week that the little mini park behind the Supreme Court was accessible again.

I believe it is a temporary install on top of the MUP, used for the installation of those pipes

I think I saw one of the steel structure on a 'oversized load' truck on Kent this morning. The galvanized steel members are quite impressive from up close.

Interesting... it looks like they're floating the giant pipes into place through the new opening in the pathway. I guess those would be water intake pipes from deep in the river? They wouldn't be steam supply lines would they?

Sadly that first stack sits exactly in line with my view of the National Gallery glass dome. Sigh…

I hope the stainless look is quality

Based on this comment I am assuming you live in Claridge Lebreton Flats II.

I noticed today that there are 3 spruce (?) trees planted at the top of the monolith - hopefully they can survive! This view will be pretty impressive when the plant and LGBTQ2+ monument are finished.

I gotta say, it's nice to see infrastructure projects like this where there's care and pride taken in making it nice/interesting. They easily could have nickel and dimed this one and have it look industrial and boring like the current plant.
