Nice! Huge improvement for the podium, looks so much better than the old dark box.

As awkward as this whole project looks to me, I did prefer the original design.

Can't wait for this one to turn into two identical grey boxes with tiny windows...

I know based on the location and proximity to Rideau that no way they would get any bigger, but imagine these two babies were like 45 and 40 stories. Yowza lol.

I also prefer the original design but if they do keep true to these renders, these should come out good at the very least. Helps create direct foot traffic density into Rideau, which is always good.

Similarly to Bayshore towers (although much shorter), gives us some nice height near one of our major malls.

I believe this will be the first residential building in Ottawa with indoor access to the O-Train.

Claridge pointed to security concerns as the reason to not have direct access between Moon and Lyon, but they could have added a secure door needing a pass (like DND's tunnel access). The lobby for this one seems to be fully open to the Rideau Centre (door will likely be unlocked, at least during mall hours), which you'd think would be an even bigger security concern, especially in this part of town.

It looks to me like there is a fixed glass partition wall between the residential lobby and the cafe/mall entrance.

Oh yeah, didn't notice. I was looking at the floor plan.

There is a door connection though, near the management office/retail washroom. Possibly building tenants will have key-card access?

all the trees on that parcel have been cut. Don't know if its a sign they want to get going on that project sooner rather than later.

I noticed that the other day. Looks quite recent as there were still wood chips and torn up grass/soil with nothing trying to grow over.

I hope they keep the amount of glass as seen, Claridge uses too much brick

This may be the first Neuf project in Ottawa that's actually decent. Even their Zibi tower is quite disappointing. Better than their average Ottawa project, but still a let down.

I do wish the Nicholas project was taller. 30 floors would be a sweet spot. And as I've mentioned before a hotel component would have been good.

This project is within one of the protected view planes, so unfortunately it was never going to get anything tall.

Definitely. The all-glass tower crazy that hit Toronto and Vancouver years back never made it to Ottawa, so these would be more than welcome in contrast to the amount of brick & cement towers we have around the city.

I was scared the update would be this project was cancelled or on hold, although with some of the struggles Rideau Centre has with vacancies you would think this should be a priority for them (add residents and frequent mall users which should then help them fill spots or keep high rents).

Building height is now proposed at 22 floors and 75.6 metres (76 metres rounded). Mods, please update.

The thread title is correct at 66m and 21f, according to the site plan and elevations in the latest Architectural Package, and the Project Description:

Where are your numbers coming from?
