I think the 1039' figure is from sea level actually. Look at the bottom of the first elevation.

Not that it's a huge difference or anything...

To me it looks like the lowest point where it reaches grade.

I think the lowest grade is 30' above sea level so it would make sense that it's still 1009'

Its 1,039 feet. Recent diagrams indicate it.

Im assuming they measured from the opposite side. If anything it would be higher. I think the diagram is accurate.

The popular, high-end fitness gym Equinox is venturing into the hotel business with its first location slated for the Hudson Yards.

The roughly 200-room hotel is expected to open in 2018 at 35 Hudson Yards between West 30th and West 33rd Streets—the anchor of a planned nationwide expansion with a Los Angeles hotel slated for the following year.

The hotel will also feature a SoulCycle—another Related subsidiary—as well as a world-class spa, according to Mr. Cross. It’s being designed by international architect Yabu Pushelberg, which also did upscale hotels such as the Waldorf Astoria Beijing and London Edition.

One of the two residential towers Related is constructing, 35 Hudson Yards, where the hotel is will based, will be one of the highest residential towers in New York at 1,000 feet. That’s not too far under the city’s tallest, 432 Park Avenue, which stands at 1,396 feet tall.

I just spoke with someone from Related who works on the HY, and he confirmed that this is not the final design.

How shocking...

The way things have been going I expect at least 15 more redesigns

Have to get it right the first time. Hopefully its for the best. Remember, this is NYC, and just like good food, it takes time to cook and make it right. Even if it means 20 redesigns.

My pleasure, VG.

I happened to run into Bill Pederson shortly thereafter. He's a very nice guy.

Work on the North-West section of the platform where the tower will stand has started. Piling is progressing and concrete is being poured. You can also see two steel columns above platform level that seem to be the first structural parts of the tower.

Not sure if the columns are part of the tower or perhaps the sculpture?

Nice find NYguy!!

I wasn't to crazy about the new design for 35 Hudson, but this rendering has made appreciate it. I thinks it's going to be a nice tower.

@JREwing.

I agree, the 2nd phase towers is looking great.
