^ Sorry, where'd the quote come from? The Lily Ave works page?

The City left James Ave as is, awaiting further developments on the Pumphouse and parkade things. Now that those are somewhat resolved, They're going ahead with the upgrades on James next year (potentially). Which include lighting.

^^^ Pumphouse - The East tower should start construction in Sep/Oct of this year.

Ya that's weird. I will assume its an error in the documents as it makes zero sense. Didn't really read through all that. Then it says pedestrian lighting on James will be Washington Kline style. So who knows.

I'm sure whatever is done will be in line with all the other recent streetscaping in the area which is looking really sharp being about 95% done now!

Would be nice if they fenced the parking area at Peg Brewery on Lily...
All other spots in the area were fenced as part of this landscaping plan including the alleys. The City / CV still have a little time before the games to get this done and fix this overlooked fencing deficiency.

I hope so...

Good point. The fences like the lot at Lily and James have helped the surface lots blend in as much as possible.

Fresh surfacing, landscaping, and decorative fencing can make a huge difference.

Does anyone know if/when the city is going ahead with the wayfinding/info/historical signage that was supposed to be rolled out throughout the entire Exchange? It was in a planning doc from a couple years back, and I believe the art installation going up at Lily and Market was one piece of it.

I kinda wish they'd find another place for that playground and put another building there. It always gives off sketchy parking lot vibes when you walk by.

So true. That streetscape would look so much better with a building there. Of course, it is nice if you live in the area and have children.

That playground is actually fenced off and is for the exclusive use of a daycare located in 423 Main Street. I agree though, it would be nice for there to be a building on that site but as long as the daycare remains I just don't see that happening.

Here's a shot of the space in 1969 from the Warkentin fonds. Nice looking building, but mighty abandoned looking as well.

I did not know that. How unfortunate.

Good find! What an unfortunate loss, though. A somewhat modest building, but it really made the streetscape.
