La construcción del autódromo será fiscalizada por el Automóvil Club Argentino y contará con el asesoramiento del múltiple campeón Juan María Traverso. Tendrá
6.186 metros de extensión y se armará sobre una ruta ya existente, aunque se duplicará el ancho actual para llevarlo hasta los 15 metros.
El circuito sin dudas va a tener características únicas, el lugar es increíble y al trazado, bordeando el lago se lo ve muy interesante.

Stephane Ratel visits Potrero de los Funes in Argentina
The 2008 FIA GT Championship is likely to include San Luis in the Republic of Argentina, further to a recent visit to the province by SRO Motorsport Group chairman Stephane Ratel last week.
The future Potrero de los Funes circuit, in an amazing setting circumnavigating a lake, will be 6.2 km long. "My first impressions on seeing the location is that it is a unique location which, once the impressive development planned will be completed, would result in one of the most impressive circuits in the world" Ratel commented.
A press conference was held at the Hotel del Potrero de los Funes, including Mr Angel Ruiz, representing the Governor, the president of the AAV, Mr Juan María Traverso, Mr Carlos Bassis of the Provincial Roads Authority and the representative of the Argentine Automobile Federation, Mr Carlos García Raimoldi.
Construction will start on the new semi-permanent circuit at the end of the month, and will take approximately nine months. Work will concentrate on the corners and on the barriers. As well as international competition, the new circuit should host rounds of the national TC 2000 and Super TC championships.
Subject to contractual details, the principle of an agreement to hold a round of the FIA GT Championship in the province of San Luis has been finalised. Should the site of Potrero de los Funes not be ready or homologated on time, another circuit, recently built next to San Luis, is available and should be FIA homologated in the next few months.

As shown in the photo, work is now well underway on the remodelling of the semi-permanent Potrero de los Funes circuit in the Province of San Luis, Argentina. The works were visted last week by the current Governor of the Province, Dr. Alberto Rodriguez Saa.
The circuit, which circumnavigates the lake of the same name, will be nearly 7 km long. The first work is taking place in the western zone, which will be the section that will take the most time. The work should be finished in July 2008. Plans are underway for a round of the FIA GT Championship to be held at the new circuit, once the work and homologation is complete.

Quisas en un futuro no tan lejano, nuestros sueños de volver a ver el show máximo del automovilismo en nuestras tierras pueda hacerse realidad. El primer paso ya está dado, se está construyendo en Potrero de los funes un autódromo de calidad internacional, aprobado por la Federación Internacional del Automóvil (FIA) y con una fecha ya confirmada para el calendario 2008 del FIA GT, el final de temporada el día 23 de Noviembre de 2008.

Avanza el autódromo de Potrero de los Funes
Avanzan tal como estaba previsto las obras en el Circuito Internacional de Potrero de los Funes, el cual será estrenado con la presentación de la categoría internacional FIA GT y del Turismo Competición 2000.
Las obras comprenden un trazado de 6.200 metros de extensión, con un ancho de pista que tendrá 12 metros como mínimo y 16 metros en sus espacios más amplios, sobre los cuales se girará en el sentido horario entre, aproximadamente, 26.000 metros de guardrail.
El circuito que será espectacular tanto por las alternativas de manejo como por el paisaje circundante al Lago de Potrero de los Funes, contará entre otros aspectos con un Hospital de Alta Complejidad, un playón de boxes con gran capacidad y una torre de control.
