Tourist-Style NYC
This summer I was in NYC briefly with my wife and son who had never been, so we spent a couple days in the city doing the tourist thing. We didn’t have a whole lot of time – 2 days before we went upstate and a half day at the end of our trip, and with a young child, it’s difficult to do a lot of walking and photo-taking, but I did my best. I’ve been to New York many times, but I’m always in awe of it.
These are pretty touristy pics, and we’ve all seen Manhattan on here before, so I did some heavy editing on a few of these with the software I have at work just to see what else I could come up with.
Herald Square
We went up in the Empire State Building. I went up when I was really young, and was curious to check out Top of the Rock this time, but since I was playing tour guide to my son, we decided it would be a lot more impressive for him to tell his friends he had been to the top of the ESB. It was pretty hazy, but great views nonetheless.
Back to the ground and it was raining
Canal Street. I used to stock up on Dancehall mix tapes and bootleg CDs when I came here as a teenager.

“Yeah, can you draw a picture of me and pretend I’m sitting next to a girl?”
Upper East Side.
We had dinner with my cousin who lives in Manhattan at the pizza place in this photo. Someone told him it was supposed to be the best pizza in the city… eh. I wondered how many pizza places claimed that. Anyway, it wasn’t the New York style pizza I was used to. Not bad, though.
The Times Square area… I’m not a huge fan of it. It’s a little too crowded and gaudy for me. But worth a stroll through if you’ve never been. These are from two separate days – one at the beginning, one before, one after our trip upstate.
I ate at that Sahara Grill when I was in NYC a few years ago. I make it a point to go back everytime I’m in Manhattan.
