The great Canadian fountains thread

A thread inspired by the very hot weather we're having this week.

Simple rule: show us the exterior fountains in your city.

Here are some from Montreal:

1. Place Jean-Paul Riopelle.

This fountain was made by famous Quebec artist Jean-Paul Riopelle for the 1976 Olympic. It was move from the Olympic stadium to the new Jean-Paul Riopelle square in front of the Palais des congrès. The fountain has a mix of water, fog and fire. The ring fire is up every hour on the hour for a few minutes.

Assuming splash pads don't count? Kidding.

We only have two that I can recall off the top of my head in St. John's. Both in Bowring Park.

Bowring Park by Ashley Hammond, on Flickr

Duck Pond at Bowring Park by Quantum Stalker, on Flickr

And one other in the suburban town of Petty Harbour.

Petty Harbour Fountain by Ross Craig, on Flickr

And, although it's gone now... our second mall, The Village, used to have a famous/infamous fountain. It was even in their theme song.

London has a really ugly one that cost a lot of money. pisses into the stagnant Thames. Sometimes there are dead fish.

This one is great!
I love the one in Assiniboine Park (Winnipeg) too.

Wonderful thread idea, Martin! And great selection too. I had the same project. Fountains are generally my favourite place to hang out when I visit a new city.

There was a thread on Urban Toronto recently on this very topic. Most of these are from that thread.

The obvious one first. Nathan Phillips Square.

Same story with Barbara Ann Scott Park (aka College Park). All the renderings seem to be in the winter so I have no idea what the replacement fountain will look like.

although One Yonge is still awaiting the hearing event at the OMB, Toronto might be getting a huge fountain along with some green space, in the south core, as shown in this preliminary rendering
