On page 1 about half way down there is a rendering that clearly shows three sections on this final piece.

I don't think you can go by the framing, counting them as individual sections of a 3 section lantern that is. It does look like 3 sections in the rendering but that's the cladding split into 3... if that cladding mirrors the framed out rectangular sections now & there are only 3 then I think the lantern would end up shorter than it appears in the renderings (where it appears to be taller than the cooling tower itself)? I"m guessing each of the 3 sections of the lantern consists of more than one of those framed out sections

Edit: went back & looked at the diagram on page 297, there are 9 of those framed out sections in total so there's quite a ways to go yet, looks like each one of the cladded 'sections' consists of 3 of the framed out sections (we now see 2 of)

Yeah my bad with the estimation. I must have been thinking about what it'll look from the outside once the cladding is up, not the framing, since the "finished" spire will kinda look like 3 sections, but yeah that doesn't correspond to the underlying framing.

According to the diagram, there's 9 horizontal braces in the spire, or 9 "blocks", with the top most one being a little shorter than the others. We are currently at 2, so it'll grow 4.5x more. I take back what I said about thinking each section would be higher, as again, my brain switched up the sections of the bracing with the sections of the cladding. It'll be pretty awesome once it's up all the way.

This was the diagram I mentioned, originally posted by PHL10 (http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...postcount=5926)

I was told by someone who is well-versed in school relocations and movement that Russell Byers is definitely moving. They are actively looking for another location per my source - just nothing has been announced officially yet.

I had a feeling that they wouldn't be like that Atlantic City granny's house next to the casino tower.

Welcome has been down forever. It's been bad weather for photos. I need a fix.

The reliability of the webcam and its operator have been very skittish of late. Don't count on it coming back up any time soon.

im not sure of the purpose of the box sitting on the setback roof on the north side but its obviously not a cooling tower. I was looking at it today from the car and I'm thinking it may be a generator that is there for construction use only. I assume it will go once there is usable normal power throughout the building which would allow them to complete the fit out work inside without use of temp power.

interesting, hadn't thought of that but sounds like a reasonable explanation. Did you happen to notice if there's been any additional vertical progress over what we've seen in the latest photos? Curiosity is killing me with the webcam down & I don't get close enough to the city with regularity to see fine detail. I can say however that for the first time CTC appears taller than Comcast from a great distance, Route 1 & 352 in Media (maybe 15-20 miles as the crow flies). It's only by a hair but it's discernible.

Are you at this again? Go back to page 318 to remind yourself.

Tried to take a picture of CTC from Conley rd. Where the northeast air port is. Its hard while driving but from my eyes CTC is looking tall and proud, can't see spire detail well. I'm sure cladding will help with that.

what? No one seems to know exactlty WHAT that box is- I am merely saying based on what we have seen happen to date it might not be what many thought. It certainly isn't going to be lifted up to the top of the building so it's not a cooling tower unit waiting to be used permanently.

A new vertical section of the lantern is now being fitted to the west end of the tower - getting taller.

Ha! Just beat me to it. The steel truss is hanging on the rigging as of 12:33P EDT. There should be one more on top of this and we have the full height of the lantern, I think.

Correct. When this section is complete we should be 4/9ths of the way complete. I can give you a more exact estimate when we see a better view up there.

For reference, go back to page 297 and count the boxes above the cooling section (not cross bracing X's, because they are not all identical in size).

Well then that will be spectacular. Looks like Comcast giving a big middle finger to all of us....LOL.
