I think you're right to some extent, I'm just eyeballing the sizing. Here is a modified version that may give a better idea of the building heights. The shoulder of One57 matches the Carnegie Tower right behind it.

Yeah that's looking like some rebar to me!

Looking at the cam, and I can hear a slow drumroll build...

Keep in mind that they still need to build the footing that will support the forms for the retaining wall. I don't know if those footings will eventually be incorporated in the main foundation or not.

Ah, just checked the webcam again, and those definitely look more like columns than footings.

Great news! I expect that this one will take some time to get out of the ground, but once it does it will sprout up in no time. Looking forward to watching this one rise . . . should be really interesting.

Woot!

http://newyorkyimby.blogspot.com/201...ns-on-432.html

Quote:
With foundation work now formally underway, 432 Park should be at street level within several months. The only similar tower in the city--One57--rose to grade fairly quickly, although financing issues paused the actual building's rise several times through construction. The simplicity of 432 Park's design could mean that the tower will rise even faster than One57 has, meaning that One World Trade's reign at the top of New York's skyline could be over as early as 2014. While speculation is unreliable, CIM still hasn't released detailed renders of 432 Park, which leaves Department of Building permits as the only source of information on the project.
Great to finally see this in the supertall forum.

If only there was some sort of taper/spire/crown on this tower, it would be a nice reference to the tall towers of old New York.

Finally some good news after the 1WTC debacle! This one will go up in time, I'm sure of that (see One57 for comparison).

These buildings don't have corruption or bureaucratic hurdles in their way. That is why they will be done much faster than anything else. When people want to do something and they put their mind to it they can build anything. The truth is sometimes it doesn't go that way.

Very cool to see 432 park in the construction phase now! Any idea for timeline when it will be topped out/completed? 2015-16?

That sounds way too far. I'd guess it will top out in early 2014.

It would be cool if there could be an observation area up top.

^Not going to happen in a residential tower. Still would be cool though.
