dunno how i feel about the base of this building, the windows are TF Cornerstone's cookie cutter desings found at my building and others at East Coast....i think the brick should have been darker....and south facing apts..looking at a blank wall....how depressing

I'll be very happy to see LIC sporting a legit skyline in years to come. This is awesome.

I am sad they left the blank wall exposed to maximize the number of apartments in this building. Rather, that they didn't design this to cover the blank wall and have the L shape go the other way.

I think this building usurped The Brooklyners's title of "Most Hideous building in New York City." Congratulations Queens!

Awesome - I've been waiting for an update on this building. Thanks Carlos!

I'll reserve judgement on its looks until its finished. One this is for certain though, that Court Square 2 is hideous. I wonder if Phase II will ever occur...?

The middle of LIC is such a weird melange of shimmering new towers and dead sites. Some, like the Rockrose ones sound like they will be built very soon. Others, like the 2nd through 4th towers of Gotham Center seem to be so far on the back burner as to have fallen behind the stove. It seems like Purves St will be built out, finally, after all these years, but the star tower site behind that new, dark glass thing is as dead as ever. It's unfortunate that such an attractive and eminently reusable building came down for that to happen.

Very true. Wasn't the Star Tower supposed to become a hotel? And whatever happened to that 35 story Toyoko Inn that was going to be built near the Citibank building along Jackson Ave?

Carlos - always enjoy the LIC updates from way down here in Atlanta! What street is the new building/hotel on? That seems to have come out of nowhere. How tall/floors is it supposed to be?

Thanks again for putting the spotlight on Western Queens from time to time!

Intenss, I think the building is between 23rd st and 41st ave in north LIC/ Astoria.

I will have to go back and get an up close look and count the floors, etc.
