from today's Winnipeg Free Press

City ninth in Canada for tech talent

https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/bu...459673553.html

Quote:
Behie didn’t know the actual number of positions that company needs to fill, but he does know how much space the company is now leasing.
"This year, Skip has leased about 45,000 square feet of space (in addition to the 15,000 it already has) in the Exchange District," Behie said. "That’s equal to about four floors in 210 Portage Ave."
Winnipeg ranks as one of the lowest-cost real estate markets, but the CBRE report notes that even though leasing space is the second-biggest operating cost for technology companies, it’s often not a barrier in choosing a market. Tech companies place a high value on markets that contain other tech firms.

Yeah it just popped into my head for some reason. They grew fast, are local, have made noise about a massive expansion of employees and of building/buying a new larger building.

Their building on Scurfield, they apparently out-grew already (or so they say). They have good PR but the culture there is awful.

^ Why would a small tech startup want to take on the epic challenge of The Bay downtown? Even if they grew beyond their wildest dreams they still probably would never end up taking up more than 1/4 of the entire building.

Well then just let them take 1/4... it's a start!

Cost effective way of adding some character to a square building. Bolt in some window decor!
