City in a garden in a tower in a park! And wood veneer and brown shag carpeting in the basement rec room! And an avocado bowl chair, harvest gold drapes and a Zenith cabinet TV in the living room, and a Ford LTD wagon in the driveway.

Bill Teron Heaven.

The largest transaction was for 18,331 square feet of residential land located at 70 Gloucester Street. The property was acquired by Claridge Homes (70 Gloucester) Inc. from Gloucester Street Property Limited and Gloucester Street Property Limited Partnership for $5,750,000 or $314/sf. It is improved with a four-storey office building but was purchased for land value. The purchaser intends to redevelop the property with a 27-storey condominium apartment building.

I don't expect anything to happen for another couple of years. First, they need to finish Tribeca, including selling and building phase III.

If I'm not mistaken, there's still the mid-rise (podium-ish) portion fronting on Lisgar to go. (or, the spot-rezoning fight to turn it into two more 27-29 storey towers? stay tuned!)

I'm predicting a 45-storey world class tower proposal that includes a new Portrait Gallery in the podium. They will get approval and, at the last minute, drop the Portrait Gallery and re-design to a 26 storey carbon copy of CP1.

There are a shit tonne of South Facing condos being sold that would be severely view-deprived by another tower over the podium...is that seriously a possibility??

Unless they've invented some way to guarantee their view in their purchase agreements (that would be a first!), I'd guess the answer to be "yes".

Maybe Crapridge has finally collected enough leftover building materials from old projects to start work on this one?

Building demolished. According to a construction worker on the site, they're getting ready for the two towers.

Demolition is complete, and the site is pretty much cleaned up.

I hope the building(s) doesn't end up looking like the Tribeca towers!?! They're god-awful! Not to mention, I know some people who live in Tribeca, and there are constant problems in the building: the swimming pool has been shut down more than it's been open, and the elevators are frequently out of order, just to name the two biggest issues.

About the only good thing to come out of Tribeca is the Sobey's Urban Fresh. It's nice to have a grocery store downtown.

I can't agree with you on this either

IMO the tribeca buildings aren't by any stretch ugly (thankfully they don't resemble at all the beige/teal Claridge Plaze I-IV). Sure they're not luxury but they add residential density in an area that can easily accommodate it and desperately needed more life. I'd point out these slimmer towers contrast well with the gratuitously mammoth bulk of Place Bell across the street.

I don't take issue at all with the fact that the Tribeca buildings bring much-needed residential density to the downtown core. In fact, I'm glad for that.

I'm also glad to have something contrast Place Bell's hulking mass, though I think some additional height would have gone a long way to help -- likely not Claridge's fault though...

What I do take issue with is the general look and feel of cheapness. The exterior cladding is a terrible colour and looks incredibly cheap! Sorta reminds me of the Andaz. Both Claridge projects, both ugly as hell.

Now we run the risk of having another similar building right across the street from Tribeca. Great.
