I like this because its gold, white, silver, gray which are match to Shanghai's imaginary colors. Just in my mind.

Now that you mention it, I agree. There skyline is already so outthere it wouldn't feel out of place. At first I was like "ew horrible" though.

Personally this is still my favorite though because it doesn't finish in a point like every skyscraper ever.

are there any updates on the competition for this lot? Is this just a proposal, or is the winner actually going to be built?

This design is nice for Shanghai... has an oriental feeling to it, not just a capitalist, western, boxy skyscraper appeal.

Still no updates on this project? I would really like to see whats left on the table for options. The competition must be nearing final 8 or so.

^^^
The height is tremendous, but the base is pretty retarded for no reason. The design seems like a throwback to the 60's when architects tried to create the future but instead were so short-sighted that their projects were "dated" before they were even built. I'll pass.

I definately sound like a nerd here but i actually feel bad for the Jin Mao. It is one of my most favorite buildings in the world and it is just becoming overwelmed by it's neighbours. I wish it could be relocated to an area where it could stand tall over it's surroundings. Boo hoo hoo....

I really like that tower, except for the base. Looks a bit old school... for some reason.
