This building turned out pretty cool, but I wanted to ask if anyone else sees an Android Style Robot Monster when they see the building from certain angles? In particular is the slot at the top being the mouth of the Robot.

See these images below. The pictures were taken by Harry C and George...doctored by Swicago...

In all seriousness, the second image with the "Dragon Scales" makes me realize that once this building is occupied and any combination of the operable windows are open, it is going to have a totally different look that when they are all closed, which is totally cool.

The mech penthouse and the podium contribute to the effect too...
Love the zigzaggy mouth.

Yesterday while dining with friends at Bella Bacino's on Wacker. My friend asked if there were giant beers inside that huge refrigerator over there (pointing to Optima)

^ Actually I fear that one could stick, with the river tour boats and tourist guides in general, since there's already "the corn cobs" etc. Gotta get BVic to steer them away (no pun intended) from this.

Why not? I don't have a problem with a fun nickname.

You attempts at humor are most enjoyable! And a serious waste of time..which I approve of..especially if you have a government job.

Well, in my mind, it can't be unseen. It will now always be Da Fridge (a.k.a the Giant Robot Monster).

I'm not saying Optima isn't beautiful, but I'd love to see something a little more massive and solid for Phase II. Adrian Smith and Cooper Robertson always intended this area to have a Rockefeller Center, limestone, Gothic vibe. NBC Tower obviously ties into this, but Gleacher Center is a pretty nice modern take on it, and proves you can capture this spirit without mimicking Art Deco.

Hovey isn't really the person I'd expect to do a modern take on Deco, but Optima Views is a little closer to what I'm thinking, with a slick and prominent concrete slab edge and opaque yellow balcony rails.
