I think Dylan might have put that in, perhaps a typo?

It was a typo on my part, it was never supposed to be 62 storeys, just 61. I put 62 in the title on the global section because I thought that is what Silent Bob originally said. I was mistaken though.

I would have left it at the 47 storey version. There are tangible renderings. The 62 storey version is a firm rumour at this point.

Even forumers from Edmonton have said the Edmontonian is not going to happen. It's basically at the same level as Toronto's Oxford Twins.

The Edmontonian has as much chance of going as the Edmonton Oilers have a chance to win the Stanley Cup this year

I said I hope it gets built, not that I expect it to.

Difference between not going to happen "for a good while" and straight up, "not gonna happen"

The Edmontonian site is an empty lot in the hottest pocket of the city. Something will eventually be built there. On the other hand, Oxford has over a million square feet of revenue generating space on their lands. They don't necessarily need to redevelop it.

What we can say with 99% certainty is neither of the what is currently rendered will get built.

Both proposals as they are are "not gonna happen."

No, Oxford Place will happen and likely in pretty close proximity to renders we have already seen, remember these are the same guys building the Oxford Tower in Calgary. And Like Whippersnapper has stated, the land the Edmonton project is on has some value, although the developer is of little repute. Will likely get flipped for a tidy profit though.

Oxford at least is a competent developer. I see The Edmontonian more as Gehry/Mirvish. Within the realm but, not with the current team.

I think you're not being rational but, who knows. Maybe Oxford will tear down a convention hall, a 650 suite highrise hotel and two highrise office buildings for either two mixed use supertalls or two shorter office buildings and a twin tower 3000 room hotel.

I foresee it as a long-term build out. Not something that will be done overnight, or anytime soon.

Well, no one is suggesting overnight. I can see them moving rather quickly on the RBC complex especially if any of the big 3 get going. That's the crux in the casino plans. One property (the hotels) is ready for redevelopment. The other may never be necessary to redevelop. It comes down to convention revenue and hotel occupancy. Some 30 storey, 750,000 sq ft block on the RBC plot would be one giant wrench in this everlasting casino plan.

Looks like there is some movement at One Yonge. Possible that a tower or two might be dropped from the proposal. This is the chatter at UT right now....

Really crappy sales sign is up as well, and it is depicting only 5 towers, not the original 6.

its not a sales sign, its the sign for the office building. There are 5 stripes on the new logo, so people are figuring 5 towers instead of the planed 6.

One Yonge is still a year or two away from launching.
