Bummer! Definitely a step (or two) back in terms of design.

Boy, that sucks - definitely falls into the same architectural genre that's been muddying the DMV's skylines for decades now. That is to say, it looks just as bad as the trash they built 10 years ago.

Piece of meh. The previous design was far more superior.

After years of anticipation, construction begins on 414 Light St. apartment tower

Quote:
Developers of the 44-story tower at 414 Light St. near the Inner Harbor broke ground on the project Tuesday, with the goal of opening in March 2018.

Once completed, the $160 million tower will hold 394 luxury apartment units, 40,000 square feet of outdoor and indoor amenity space and retail space along the first floor.

The 2-acre site is the former home of spice maker McCormick & Co. Inc. and has long been eyed for redevelopment. Up until this month, the site had been a surface parking lot.

It's actually still the same design from Questar Chris08876 mistakenly posted a failed design proposal from Ziegler Cooper Architects and it confused some posters when he said "New Renderings / re-design from the architect:"

By the way, since these haven't been posted in this thread, here's what could have been.

At nearly 800 ft in 2006:
Architect: Robert A.M. Stern Architects

Then modified down to around 700 ft 2007-2008:
Architect - BOKA Powell

Briefly submitted as a proposed Exelon HQ in 2011:
Architect - Design Collective

Then converted to a 400 ft residential tower in 2012:
Architect - Ziegler Cooper

Then finally, the current 500 ft design Questar Properties embarks on its 44-story 'magnum opus' in Inner Harbor link includes ceremonial groundbreaking video :
Architect - Solomon Cordwell Buenz

I decided to take a walk down to the site to see how things are progressing. I'm hoping to do this every few weeks throughout construction.

Sorry for the blurry pics. It was starting to rain, so I was trying to be quick about it.
