With towers getting taller and taller and earthquakes being a real natural disaster threat, how strong of an earthquake can new buildings stand?

From the retail brochure:

https://www.onni.com/wp-content/uplo...e-Brochure.pdf

This looks like the ground level plan (as opposed to the Level 2 plan below).

Just one retail floorplan though, showing 2 big units.
It doesn't say what level is shown, and there does not appear to be a direct connection from the SkyTrain concourse to the retail breezeways.
EDIT: It says Level 3 if you go to the original image - but I don't see any escalators
- just stairs and an elevator, unless they are expecting multi-floor tenants with internal escalators.

From the Office Brochure - Phase 2 office building
(presumably at "Carlton Plaza" on right side of retail plan).
I count 31 office floors - I've assumed double height lobby and top 2 stripes on cladding are mechanical screening.

https://www.onni.com/wp-content/uplo...ure-Office.pdf

Looks like Carlton Plaza (at the base of the office tower) has been simplified / dumbed down
compared to this layout from March 2016. Hopefully it doesn't end up too barren.

Conceivably, the pink area could be a multi-storey department store -
I doubt that would happen though.

And from the 1st post in the thread:

So about 22,000 sqft floor plates. That's more like it

Does this tower being 70+ stories has a fire wall level? I know some high rises being this tall actually has a empty floor to prevent spread of fire upwards.
Very often you transfer to a different elevator on this level to access the upper stories.

I think those are generally mechanical floors that you're thinking of.

Not yet, they have just kicked off the pre-leasing campaign. Target completion is Q2 2024.

The leasing brochure indicates that the office tower will be 34-storeys at an average floorplate of 20,000 SF.

I would guess the tower will be over 450 ft., which is pretty damn cool for Brentwood.

I believe 3 elevators to lower floors and 3 to upper floors. Not sure about firewall level.

Missed the 34 floors - thanks.

Maybe that'll help rent the retail space.

Good question though -
This office tower will probably complete before the first office tower at Amazing Brentwood (assuming they are willing to build on spec).
At Amazing Brentwood, the office tower has been pushed back to Phase 3 (redevelopment of the Sears store).
At one time, there were office tower elevators shown on plans near the north department store (Phase 2), but those have been deleted in the latest plans.

So they haven't dropped plans for an office tower altogether?
