Calgary get a player that had success over there while Montreal add more size up front.

We also get a second rounder so there is a good chance we'll add another prospect in the system.

Rene Bourque becomes the 2nd best goal scorer on the team with 13 goals only behind the beast in the avatar.

With this trade, our top 5 goal scorers are 6"0+ and 200 lbs+... damn we're getting big.
Cole: 6"2
Bourque: 6"2
Pacioretty: 6"2
Kostitsyn: 6"0
Moen: 6"2
The fact that Bourque would be considered "tough" in Montreal, and that he and Cole would be your #1 and #2 might explain the last place in the division currently.

Wow! Chicago-Detroit games are always filled with playoff-like intensity. This has got to be the premier match-up in today's NHL!

They may not but going into this season some said they will be the worst team and would be lucky to win 10 games i think atleast Ottawa should get some credit for there season so far.

Yeah, it was a good game. I know there was one SSPer that drove from Chicago to attend the game, and I'd say it was definitely worth the trip.

We'll see about Bourque but Erik Cole would be a top 3 forward on more than half of teams.

Leads the team with 17 goals and is second with 98 hits (behind Emelin).

After tonight's game, he will probably become the second player after Ovechkin with 15+ goals AND 100+ hits this season.

It's Sutter vs Sutter tonight!

Should be a great game.

I'm guessing Cammy will get 2 goals tonight.

The Kings are a good-looking team. I can see them going somewhere in the playoffs.

Nice to see Cammy score. Frustrating to see Backlund blow every single chance he had. And he somehow had a lot of them.

Why did Pacioretty score with 40 seconds left to tied it up??? That's bad for the tank. We got a pt because of that.

Good effort by the boys but at the end of the day it's still another freaking blown lead.

Also finishes the game at -2.
Anyway, happy to see he scored.

Backlund is turning out to be a major disappointment. Great to see Cammalleri score, here's hoping Borque will have similar success in his debut tonight.

The Rangers became the first to reach the 60 pts in the NHL mark while Boston is coming back to earth. Love it.

3 pts each for Cole, Pacioretty and Desharnais.

Cole: 33 pts
Pacioretty: 32 pts
Desharnais: 31 pts

96 pts for the line.

Probably the most dominant line since Kovalev-Plekanec-Kostitsyn combined for 206 pts in 07-08. The difference was that they had 113 even strength pts while Cole-DD-Pacs already have 72 ES pts.

Rene Bourque was great in his first game... hitting everything and creating several scoring chances. He brought a physical aspect to the second line. So far, a heck of an upgrade over Cammy.

Oh Yeah! Another 3-goal 5-point night for Malkin.
man this is becoming routine

On another note, what a fcuk'in retard that Lecavalier is. Clearly he was ducking out of the way and not going for his knees. I know its probably not fun to play for such a shitty team but does he think he's going to suddenly live up to his 7.7 million dollar a year contract by gooning it up? Hope they suspend that overpaid bum.

How things can change in one season...

Desharnais and Pacioretty were destroying the AHL at the start of last season.
They were both called up at the same time and haven't disappointing since.
Since the call up:

Pacioretty: 79 games, 29 goals, 56 pts
Desharnais: 88 games, 15 goals, 53 pts

Right now, Desharnais is the 12th best center in the NHL with 24 assists.

I mean how many people have actually heard of Desharnais prior to this season?

He has 54 pts in 94 games... at the same age St. Louis had 60 pts in 147 games.

Both players went undrafted due to their size. Not saying he will become anything close to St. Louis but at 850k for 2 more years, he has a good chance of being our top scorer at the end of the year.

+ he's French Canadian.

Yes, I can't stand that POS either. I like the Lightning but Lecavalier should be ashamed of himself. He owes his contract to Martin St. Louis.

St. Louis has class, Lecavalier has none.

BTW-Detroit won their 15th straight home game tonight. NHL record is 20 consecutive games by Boston and Philadelphia.

Now THAT had to be Backlund's best game. If he played like that every night, we have a real prospect on our hands.

Also, keep that top line together, Cammy and Iggy had great chemistry.

Goddamned Oilers.

Not only are Nugent-Hopkins and Eberle out with freak-accident injuries, but Potter accidentally stepped on Talyor Hall's face during last night's warm up.

I am starting to believe that Kevin Lowe sold the Oilers' soul to Satan for that cup run in 2006. The team has been cursed with horrible freak injuries since then.
