The ferry in Dawson City, YK, where you worry that you'll float off down to Nome before ever reaching the other side. I think this might be one of the rare examples of a ferry actually ferrying in the same sense of a canoe or kayak ferrying in moving water.
Manitoba has a probably the most extensive ferry services of all the prairie provinces. These are mainly used to get vehicles and equipment to the east side of lake winnipeg, which does not have (as of yet) year round road access. I traveled on the short Matheson island ferry (cable guided). there was a quaint little fishing village and a nice beach on the island
The NM F.-A. Gauthier officially entered service today. It replaced the NM Camille-Marcoux after 40 years of service on the Matane-Baie-Comeau-Godbout route. This is the first ferry in North America to run on liquefied natural gas.
NB has plenty of small, cable-stayed car ferries in rural areas. A bunch of them connect to the Kingston Peninsula, an area north of Saint John where political pressure from landowners to suppress urban sprawl has prevented the construction of a bridge at Gondola Point or Brundage Point.

The articles that talk about the new design say that the initial design proposed was similar to the old one, with lots of exposure to the car deck and upper deck. The passengers surveyed said that they would much prefer a design where the cars got as little exposure to waves and wind as possible, and this led to the current design.
The MV Legionnaire launched yesterday in Romania. She'll be one of the two new vessels crossing the tickle between the suburban towns of Portugal Cove and Wabana.
The Toronto Island Ferry is a colossal ripoff. Line up for 45 minutes to buy ticket (~$30 for family of 4...outfuckingrageous). Then line up for another 30 minutes or more to board the ferry. You could easily swim to the islands more quickly.
That's the stupid tourist way to cross the harbour. Waited five minutes total a couple days ago on the packed Centre Island run. Schedule and tickets are available online.
I went at about 6 pm a couple weeks ago. Walked right up to an empty ticket booth and boarded the ferry with 20 people tops. Evenings on the island are awesome watching the sunset and skyline light up.
