Well, this is encouraging. A law school right on Ouellette would be great for DT.

They're not. The walker road planet lost lots of employees when they moved distribution to London.

Hi Windsorites.

Just to let you know that I started a thread in the London politics section about the federal election. The thread is not just about London as the thread' title is Federal Election in London/Windsor/SWO. It is a forum for everyone and the region is a battleground one and would really love to see some Windsor or other SW input.

Often political threads when referring to Ontario invariably tend to become politics in the GTA/Golden Horseshoe and completely overlooking the other 5 million Ontarians.

Not too much that's exciting to talk about. Brian Masse (NDP) has practically no competition for Windsor West, the only interesting race is Windsor-Tecumseh with the Departure of Joe Comartin (NDP).

Windsor has been an NDP stronghold for years and I'm not sure what that has even done for us. Jeff Watson, the county federal MP (Cons) could potentially lose his seat, but he's been doling out money for the last year or so in hopes of retaining his seat.

For Windsor-Tecumseh we have Frank Schiller running for Liberals, and Cheryl Hardcastle replacing Joe Comartin for NDP, as well has Windsor city councillor Jo-Anne Gignac running for Windsor-Tecumseh (Cons). Jo-Anne Gignac has the most name recognition of the 3 candidates in that riding, but she is a conservative.

It's questionable how much being an NDP stronghold has done for this area considering they are backbenchers in parliament with NDP being a a distant 3rd in the parties. I don't see this area voting conservative considering our manufacturing has gone to shit since Harper's reign. I think it's NDP's to lose and Liberals to gain in the Windsor-Tecumseh riding, Brian Masse in Windsor west is safe.

I feel Jeff Watson might not be a sure thing either, but I'm not closely watching the race in the county so I'm unaware of the candidates going up against him.

Still it would be great to get your insight in the LDN/WSR/SWO thread.

I can't see anybody but the NDP winning both ridings in Windsor though I have to say I've seen way more Conservative signs in Windsor-Tecumseh this campaign than I've ever seen before (Jo-Anne Gignac is a very popular city councillor running for the Conservatives in that riding).

Hm, I think my political engagement peaked with that reply. Yes I will vote along with my wife, I try to keep up with the party policies, but I don't know if I really feel like getting wrapped in a thread debate. Thanks for the invite though.

That's cool and yer welcome.

Just wanted to spread the word to our Windsor friends about the LDN/WSR/SWO forum so they would know it existed and knew Windsor {or any other area of SWO} was more than welcome.

I gotta say that is sadly true. I started hanging around these forums back around 2002 back when I lived downtown. Back then this place was quite alive with Windsor content from Blitz, Border City Boy, Jaybird, myself and many others. There were always dozens of great Windsor photos almost daily.

Unfortunately, I disappeared from these parts for a long time and then returned primarily as a lurker.

Perhaps interested died out because we haven't had a new highrise constructed in ages.

Anyway I miss the Windsor activity that was once plentiful on here.

I've felt like I've been the only one really posting pictures in the last 3 or 4 years and eventually I just kind of got tired of carrying the torch. I still take pics but I've had some other stuff going on and no motivation to upload and post them. Also, there's practically nothing going on in Windsor except the U of W pork belly projects downtown. Downtown is hanging on by a thread.

^^

Yeah, I saw that last week. I hope Chatham St. will eventually fill up again after all those closed restaurants left the street deserted. It used to be such a great area!

Anybody know what ever happened to that upscale restaurant/club that was supposed to be built in that vacant lot on Ouellette next to the Crazy Horse? I remembered hearing some big plans then haven't heard anything in quite some time.
