Bonafide Best Places To Live In Canada List

Note the sarcasm

Just another list I stumbled on.

So subjective..Some people buy into these lists as being official though.

Bit of a meh list like most of them, seems to be heavily weighted by income and wealth (big surprise, most of the places in the top 10 are suburbs) though Hamilton apparently made big gains on their list going from 77 last year to 41 this year.

No idea why Boucherville rounds out the top spot. I've been there a few times and it seemed the same as any other sleepy Montreal 'burb.

MoneySen$e clickbait. although it is true: Port Alberni is a hole. Boucherville? Really? there are some nice parts, and a lot of mcmansions, but #1? Really?

Okotoks at 120? MoneySen$e clearly has a hate-on for Alberta.

In all fairness, the list is almost random.

I have heard that Thompson (MB) is the Port Moresby of Canada.

Living anywhere in Canada is certainly good enough for me! ( . . as opposed to the vast majority of other countries worldwide.)

Hahaha, it claims Toronto doesn't have low crime when per capita it's one of the safest places in the country.

Never been to Port Moresby, but based on what google turns up about it I would say that likening it to Thompson would be very kind and generous... to Thompson.

I wouldn't live in Thompson unless someone paid me oodles of cash to do so. Even by Northern Manitoba standards it's depressing.

If only Okotoks and Calgary were combined....they would be number 1!

Ottawa has a check mark on low taxes? Seriously? We have one of the highest property tax rates in Canada.

Be aware that the list compares principal cities excluding suburbs, to metro areas including suburbs for smaller cities, apples and oranges.

I'm kind of impressed we didn't get a single green check mark in any category.

haha, yeah maybe.

Apparently Port Moresby is among the most wretched places to live according to the perennial lists produced by the Economist, etc.

I think most Canadians would gladly spend their winters in that horribly unliveable city

One thing is for sure, after googling Thompson MB I would choose Port Moresby!

I would say that the prairies are pretty . . . um, . . . safe. We don't worry about: rock slides; avalanches; mudslides; hurricanes; earthquakes; high pollution rates. We have merely freezing cold winter weather and the occasional summer tornado. Lol!

The pics above are incredible!

In all fairness, Port Moresby is a dangerous, dangerous place. Though the unique ancient culture and natural environment are definitely striking!

Pretty sure a lot more people have frozen to death in the prairies than died from any of your other listed fears.

My area did very well, 3 of the top 20. West Van would be my top choice.

Snowmobile fatalities are fairly high out here.
