Streetcar tracks

Tennis I remember a while back you sharing a permit for the RTA to redo the traffic lane downtown with concrete around the streetcar tracks. Look's like that work has started at St Charles in front of Lafeyette Square.

Hah! That I don't know! It was owned by Magistrate Harry Cantrell, who used it as a law office, until he faced lawsuits over unconstitutional bond practices. It's an attractive building if someone removed the poorly done stucco:

Did the Kolb's/Old Whitney Bank assemblage spreading mid-block just off Canal between 119-125 St. Charles and 120-130 Carondelet ever sell (I think it might have also included 134-138 Carondelet and 719-729 Common)? I know it was listed at one point (https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1831...ew-Orleans-LA/) but can't remember if anything ever happened with it.

Incredibly difficult property to develop, I imagine, but it could definitely be cool if it did ...

New airport looks great! I just hope they plant A LOT more plants/trees like in half the renderings so it's not a sea of parking lots.

Is it just me or is there basically zero progress being made on the inside of the terminal since the May delay? For example, the TSA area looks identical (from my memory) to around the time of the delay. Same with the ticketing area.

There has been significant progress. The TSA area looks the same because the contractor installing the ceiling tiles is working on that section next. Once the ceiling tiles are installed, the TSA equipment will go in very quickly.

Here is the May photo of the ticketing area for comparison.

May

August

Not much of the ceiling tile installation had occurred and the check-in counters were no where near complete. Now the ceiling tiles are all installed and the check-in counters are nearly complete. All that is left is to complete the airline signage installation and the check-in kiosks.

Bag claim is pretty much done now.

May

August

Everyone I know that works at the airport has been hearing a February opening date. A buddy of mine was just over there said only one airline had begun I.T installation at the counter. He said there’s a ton of behind the scenes work left to do. He did mention the restaurants were maybe 85% complete.

Is there a server room the counter equipment connects to inside of the airport, or do the computers remotely connect to a server that is offsite? Just wondering because an onsite server room would be a much bigger job than just setting up counter equipment.

I've been hearing a Fall opening still from a friend that works for NOAB, but no firm date yet.

One major event that is likley pushing a Fall completion date for the airport is the college football championship on January 13th. I'm certain there is a push to get the terminal open before that game occurs since it's a showcase event for the region.

Looking at the status of the airport now I cant see how they would need anymore time than November to open it... starting trials and testing next month with volunteers seems more than doable
