This is interesting. They have what looks to be 8 chutes for the trucks to back right up to and self unload. I haven't seen that done for a large mat pour before. Add in the three pumps and they can unload up to 14 trucks at the same time.

The chute system is really cool.

A few quick edits. Hope to have a bigger set up later next week once I'm back in town...

The chutes are a simple efficient way to get a lot of concrete quickly into the mat. But is it only for that one edge? How much will the concrete spread out under its own weight?

Click the links on the previous page with the mat discussion. They talk about the fluidity of the concrete make up.

It's all about the chemicals added and the temp of the concrete.

As of about 20 minutes ago they now have a fourth concrete boom pump running roughly in the middle of all of the chutes, though they are still using the chutes on either side of the boom truck.

All covered up! How long does the curing process usually take?

It is probably 60% - 75% up to strength now (24 hours after pour). A lot depends on the concrete mix. It will continue to cure and strengthen over the next 2 months, but is typically required to meet full design strength within 28 days.
