Thought maybe you were saying this because the Leafs weren't playing tonight, but they are so

Indeed. So pumped for this year. Not thinking the Cup, but we should be in the top 4.

To be honest the Jets looked like the better team for the first half of the game despite some frustrating penalties. We're learning the importance of having a good goalie and I feel bad for the Jets because it feels like that's been the missing piece since they moved back to Winnipeg.

I feel bad for the Jets because they have a terrible coach. Seriously how is he still employed by an NHL team? He was awful with the Leafs.

Learning? It's been Winnipeg's problem the last two and a half seasons. Lousy special teams and lousy goaltending. While Toronto might be one of the better offensive teams in the league this year. 7-2 with even shots on goal is ridiculous. It's early on the season but it's the same story as last year so far.

It's always hard to tell as an opposing fan how much of the problem is systematic since I don't watch enough games. I don't know how many of Winnipeg's problems I would blame on Maurice though. Nylander's goal looked entirely to be mason's fault. I have no idea what Wheeler was doing in the faceoff circle on JVR's goal. Matthew's goal was a tip that I don't think anyone would stop. On the other end, Winnipeg had good opportunities on the power play, a couple breakaways, and Andersen stood strong.

First game so no point in trying to draw too many conclusions. One thing for sure is I love the Leaf's scoring depth. Three lines that can play top line matchups is going to be awesome to see on home ice.

Well that was fun. As a leaf fan I had the same reaction as others at the bar. 3 both in! 4 nothing! 5 nothing! We've all heard we have good team but we are used to failure. There is a buzz that I think will build to a frenzy in this city where the majority of us have supported a shitty home team for decades. And no I'm not saying we will win the cup but I am saying you will mot be able to make fun of our team for a few years at least. The best thing was we beat a really great team tonight.

I agree about the rest but not this. Jets played horribly, have a shady D-corps and mediocre goaltending. Groundhog day for Jets' fans...

Bad enough that McJesus almost singlehandedly won that game for the Oilers. Even worse was the Sportsnet crew verbally fellating him, at length, for the entire game.

Anyone have Tonya Harding's number? we need to knee cap McDavid. That guy is going to single handedly win a lot of games for Edmonton...
