Having had the chance to mull over the renderings, I have a few more thoughts:

-I'm surprised they didn't make the tower taller. The existing clinic is actually a fairly large space, the main level really sprawls, and the tower is fairly substantial too. At first glance, it looks like this tower wouldn't be much bigger than the existing building by much if at all.

-No two ways about it, the parkade on the lower levels is hideous. I really wish they could have found a way to hide it. I guess they at least get a good effort ribbon for hiding it from sight on ground level.

-Too much gray in the palette. Even blue in the glazing would do a lot to keep it like looking like a big, dull monolith.

I realize I'm coming down hard on it here... I do like the fact that they went with a fairly vertical orientation for the clinic, but it's too bad they couldn't have made it at least a bit nicer. In some ways it keeps the Medical Arts Building tradition of drab physician-owned midrise medical clinics alive.

It is very prominent in the distance, while driving north on Sherbrook.

My Rheumatologist is in the Manitoba Clinic. And what I find most surprising is that the receptionists aren't out in front in the waiting room, but in the hallway near the examination rooms. Hopefully this will improve the layout.

I drove by the site yesterday evening and I saw that the rebar is now poking up above grade.

The concrete floor plate for grade level was put in yesterday or the day before. This is definitely above grade now.

I am guessing the below grade portion that was not built over in the pictures is the access ramp for the underground parking. Sort of odd to see as the renders suggest the building butts up directly to the existing above ground parkade.

They'll have this building done faster than you can get an MRI in Manitoba.

Keep in mind this is just pouring the floors and a lot of work can go into medical buildings once the raw structure is finished. Just look at the new Women's hospital as an example as it is still not open.

I doubt that this will be as complex though, being a private clinic.

It is likely less complicated than the Women's Hospital but is still going to be somewhat more complicated than a normal office building as they have labs, xray, etc to setup. They also need to coordinate the move from the old building.
