I've never seen this one before. It's gorgeous. Here's hoping that it's a first in a long line of projects that will help redevelop Los Angeles' downtown.

Hey guys, I read that "Downtown News" Newspaper, and it looks like the Los Angeles River Revitalization plan has been approved!

At last, that ugly industrial looking Amtrak freight train yard along the river will finally be an underground one!

Indeed giallo, there's almost $20 Billion in revitalization for Downtown L.A.
And thats just the beginning!

JDR, this is the Ritz Carlton Thread. River Revitalization news should go in the Rundown thread(s) or in the Califorum.

But to get this thread back on track, the original dirt access ramp on Georgia is now completely gone. Should be any day now.

^ So wait.... What exactly has been happening on the site. I could have swore that the foundation was being worked on. So nothing has happened yet?

I saw one of the renderings of the Ritz, and it looks like there's a rectangular hole in the middle of the tower.....is it some form of outdoor restaurant?

I think you're talking about the Office Highrise that was proposed:

but, back on track, here's the latest image from the webcam:

hey...have they started construction on the theaters?

^ They've definitely started on the parking underneath the theaters, but not the theaters themselves. It's really weird how they define their "phases" on this project. They don't count the parking underneath as part of that phase, so AEG would say that the theater phase is not yet under construction, even though work is underway on the parking. But as soon as it starts rising above ground level, they'll recognize it as "under construction".

When I walked past the site yesterday, a tractor was making a deeper hole. It's getting close...

Check it. You can see the deeper hole from the web cam if you zoom in (red arrow). Exciting times!

AEG to Break Ground on L.A. Live Hotel and Residences

LOS ANGELES - A groundbreaking ceremony will be held for Anschutz Entertainment Group's hotels and residences at its L.A. Live project in downtown Los Angeles June 1 at 10 a.m. The groundbreaking is for the Ritz-Carlton Residences and Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott Hotel at the development.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and city Councilwoman Jan Perry are among some of the hosts who will be at the ceremony.

...

Now is the perfect time to use this thing.
