Fortis, in the background, is the tallest U/C. 351 Water Street, in the foreground, is the most prominent U/C.

The same two, this time with Fortis in the foreground:

Neat. I'm curious, is the steel trucked in from the mainland (Halifax?) via ferries or does St. John's take the occassional container ship direct from China?

I'm pretty certain Newfoundland is a net exporter of Limestone so the concrete is likely made locally. I am surprised the building isn't primarily concrete.

We do have a busy industrial port for a city our size. There's almost always an Oceanex container ship being loaded/unloaded in St. John's. Whether they come from overseas or the Canadian/American mainland, I don't know.

In this specific case, I think the steel comes from Halifax. On the project thread for 351 Water Street, someone posted this comment:

The main Oceanex ships routes are Montreal-St. John's and Halifax-St. John's.

I think one ship does the Halifax run and the other two, Montreal. I see them go up and down the river all the time from my place!

I don't know why... but I find it so cool that we're watching the same ships, ha! And I like that this company seems to have its main mainland port in Montreal. It's refreshing.

I'm surprised no one has made a diagram of The Pearl in Edmonton, as it is the tallest UC in the city and will be the tallest tower outside a downtown core in the prairies.

Surrey is mentioned twice on the list and I think Vaughn has the expo city condos being built now, those are something like 40 floors.

I think the tallest under construction in Halifax is the 83 metre TD building.

Soon the tallest will be Fenwick and possibly the King's Wharf main tower. Not sure which will be taller. Fenwick will be 106 m.

Two of those three are just major structural additions though. I'm not sure if the majority of people on the forum would see them as a tower under construction. I would though, considering TD is doubling its size (and then some?) and I believe Fenwick is adding at least a good 30 percent to its current size and increasing its height by 10 meters. Within five years Atlantic Canada will have its first two 100 plus meter towers! Yayyy!

Here is a homemade render on which you can see Sherbrooke's tallest u/c. The one at the bottom is already built and the one on the right is currently being built.

Harbourfront Residences in Saint John has been completed. I'm not actually sure what our tallest U/C is right now. We have a few 3-4 floor apartment buildings but outside of that nothing substantial height-wise.
