Your pictures actually amazed me... It's nice to see the discussion that your photos brought. While searching for some abandonned buildings in Detroit on Google, I found this article and I find it interesting, so I thought I could share it. (just tell me if it bother you, since it's a photothread it may be a little out of topic)

Thanks for the pics.
These were all taken last weekend.

Le Calmar, thanks for the link. Very informative!

Which photo are you referencing? I ask because there is only one photo that I saw that would show that area (the one that's been quoted a few times, here), and I don't see any construction.

That's just what the building looks like normally. Guess I'm seeing things.

So much decay, I hope Detroit sees a turn for the better soon but with GM not doing too well, well Detroit would pretty much be SOL if GM went under. Great photos though. I really liked the one with that old decrepit building in the front and then the shining towers of GM in the background.

I just realized that brutalist building at I-75/I-375 interchange looks almost identicle to my old dorm at UC.

I saw these pics before and commented on them at UrbanOhio but they're fun to look at a 3rd time. I can't say I'm very optimistic about the future of these beautiful buildings but it's a fascinating collection nonetheless.

So would Russellville, Houston and Chicago. I don't know why everyone thinks this is exclusively a Detroit problem.

Houston and Chicago are still more diversified than Detroit. Granted, if the auto industry goes under, all of the U.S. is going to feel it.

Beautiful photos. Detroit is a sad example of capitalism gone bad.

Yeah, inefficient unions had nothing to do with it.

Yeah, and those thoughtful & caring "Big 3" corporate board members who fly in their private jets to Washington hearings to discuss federal bailouts, have nothing to do with it either.

Well, to experience the opposite, just visit cities that are bigger...maybe start with San Jose and San Antonio.

Detroit will rise again someday, probably not in our lifetime, but it will rise.
