Thanks. I found Shinjuku great too, very easy to get anywhere, so much to just walk around and see. I didn't really research where to stay I just went with the hotel suggestion online and was really happy with it. And Harajuku/Omotesando was my fave area too, I went there three times. It's just so chill despite all the people. I was fascinated by how polite everything and people are, they lock their bikes up but they don't lock them to anything as they do here if they did that here people would just walk away with the whole thing.

started at Shinjuku station and checked out the south and I assume west area of the station, I had no sense of direction there.

You see these little carts being pushed around, they are for a parcel delivery company, I was surprised that they would just leave the cart on the street as they went inside a building.

Japan Cola. All drinks are cheap in Tokyo. 129 Yen is about $1.57 Canadian. There are some stores where a 600ml bottle of pop or whatever is 78Yen or 95 cents Canadian, vending machines were about 100 Yen. In Canada we pay about $2.99 at a corner store for the same thing, sometimes they offer 2 for $4.

Shimokitazawa. It is the Bohemian area of Tokyo. Lots of indie shops, vintage clothing shops, cafes, I wasn't there at night but is known for its live music venues, there are 21 night clubs in the area with live music etc. I was there on a saturday and it can get crowded.

Roppongi, is known as a lively entertainment district, for a saturday evening it was completely dead. I wanted to check out Roppongi Hills, a large complex with some towers and a shopping complex which wasn't all that interesting. It is apparently popular with Americans as there are many top hotels there and a lot of hip hop clubs.

Ginza. It's very upscale, clean, more international in feel. There is no smoking allowed in public, they do not have smoking areas like all the rest of Tokyo has. There are some bars or cafes that may allow it.

Hermes has an entrance in the subway underground with a doorman. I didn't take a pic of it.

There is an observation spot at the Tokyo Metropolitan building. There are actually two, one in the South Tower and one in the North Tower. One of them closes early like around 5 pm, the other one stays open until 10 or 11 pm. The views are great

Kawagoe, a suburb city 31km NW of Tokyo with a population of 350,000. The day I went was a crazy rainy day so I got there and decided not to go to see the old town as it was just too wet. I wandered around the town area near the station.

Quote:
DescriptionKawagoe is a Japanese city northwest of Tokyo. An Edo-period castle town, it’s known for its old clay warehouses and merchant homes, called Kurazukuri. Traditional Japanese sweet shops line Meiji-era Candy Alley. Kita-in, a major Buddhist temple, features remnants of the former Edo Castle. On the temple grounds are the Gohyaku Rakan group of more than 500 stone statues of Buddha’s disciples.

I used a different station to go back and ended up going a completely different direction lol so I ended up in another suburban city called Tokorozawa that has a population of 330,000. I didn't see much as I only got out and walked around the station so I could change trains to get back into Tokyo. I also got on some different train at Kawagoe cause google maps isn't always helpful and I had to pay cash on the train but it was faster than the other train and thats how I ended up in Tokorozawa.

not much to see from the train
