Flase Creek Underground Parkade Flooding?

I was wondering, given the rain/hail storm we just had on May 7/201. Is it fairly "normal" under these extreme and unusual conditions to have some minor flooding into condo parkades around False Creek/North Main St./etc. when the city storm sewers are stressed/overloaded?

Any comments are much appreciated, thank-you.

No, just a general question regarding the developments in that whole area around False Creek, N. Main St., etc.?

Thanks all for further comments.

don't know about specific buildings or areas, but city storm sewers handle large outflows by being discharged directly to the sea, both sewage and run-off.

ie, this is a backstop that prevents issues in buildings.

Quote:
During heavy rainfall events, the volume of flow in the system can exceed its capacity and result in a combined sewer overflow (CSO). In the event of a CSO, excess wastewater is discharged untreated directly into local water bodies, being a contributing source of water pollution.

Having lived in 2 high rises in the Yaletown/False Creek area, I've never seen flooding in the parkades.

In both buildings there was a bit of a hill before the garage entrance, so water would flow elsewhere first. Unless we are talking a tsunami level wave.

I think you'll find that these buildings can be running monster-sized sumps 24/7, just to deal with the high water table.

Actually if I recall there's a sewer overflow pipe that empties into False Creek at the Olympic Village (of all places) if things overload there.

That's not as issue.
The only parkade flooding I've ever heard of is near Still Creek in Burnaby.

the silvercity parkade used to flood all the time in coquitlam and the roads in the area were pretty bad when it rained - they have spent the last couple of years upgrading the storm drains and ditches and everything - you can go past the cactus club just to see how high they have raised the road for example... and the silvercity parkade hasn't flooded this year that i have heard of...
