Nice. Rare for a new building to be between 8 and 20 stories.

Was driving to work, north on the 110, and are my eyes decieving me or are they finally installing the "crowns" for the oeanwide towers? it was a quick glimpse and i havent been that way in a while. I know people on other websites are saying its still stalled but any news on the project lately has been meh.

Yes, they have started installing crowns on the two shorter condo towers, but haven't seen crown installation yet on the tallest one. I'm hoping there's additional materials or painting planned to match the white accents of the tower in general.

You are correct...I noticed it Friday. I went to take a tour of Circa and they are definitely working on Oceanside.

United Artists blade sign

It would be so great to see that United Artists blade sign lit up. It would "make" the block. I'd pitch in money for that! Too bad that the Broadway Palace Apts. buildings turned out so cheap and bland looking. I guess they're still better than parking lots. The new retail certainly helps. Any word from anyone on the stalled Broadway Trade Center/May Co. buildings resuming development? It seems like such prime retail space.

And that’s Oceanwide.

"The Realm Group has acquired a 1.5-acre land site in Downtown Los Angeles with plans to build a 36-story, 422-unit multifamily high-rise. The Realm Group is a joint venture between Realm Real Estate and The Bascom Group, and this is the group’s second purchase in Downtown Los Angeles.

Located at 675 South Bixel Street, the planned property will feature one of the largest amenity decks in Downtown Los Angeles. It will include a 40,000-square-foot amenity deck on the 5th floor with a pool terrace and spacious dog park.
HFF’s capital team, led by Charles Halladay, Jamie Kline, Nicholas Lench and Samuel Godfrey secured land financing through Starwood Property Trust for the purchase."

I thought this already started...and I thought the groundbreaking already happened. I’ve seen dirt moving.

The historic Hooters is finally being torn down. Making way for the 42 and 25 story hotel towers.

Completing factoring our design, 1,100+ hotel rooms directly across the street from the Convention Center is a major win.

That stretch of fig used to be one of the weakest parts of dt, but of LA in general. Ppl visiting events at the convention ctr, esp if they were out of towners, had a fairly weak impression of LA at that time. More recently....or since the late 1990s....ppl also visiting Staples ctr & LA live too.

One visitor to LA for the annual rose bowl about 2 yrs ago said that in the past between Pasadena & the UCLA area, there was nothing welcoming to tourists as a place to visit or for their hotel....but that has since changed with improvements in dtla.

Long time in coming....but better late than never. even things like this didn't seem to become more established in LA... esp dtla....until not too many yrs ago....

As long as it’s not raining, rooftops are the place to be nearly year-round in LA. After all, the city practically invented the concept, with The Standard, Downtown LA opening one of the first back in 1999.

Ask a local and they’ll tell you that for a city this size, there aren’t as many rooftops as you’d expect—though there are still plenty to choose from, ranging from laid-back to glitzy depending on your mood. Downtown has the highest concentration, not surprisingly given the amazing skyline from that vantage point. The best part about the LA rooftop scene though is that it’s accessible for everyone: The lines aren’t (usually) long, and there’s always a diverse mix of people that speaks to the diversity of the city overall.

YES...it’s definitely started. I asked one of the workers just to see what he would say, and he said it’s a residential high rise.
