Which states in which forum sections?

I'm trying to get a better idea of which states are covered under which sections here in the forum. Can anyone make any suggestions?

Here's what I need help with:

- The "Southwest" is very small, perhaps it can be combined with another section

- Which section would Nevada be in?

- What about Arkansas and Louisiana?

- What about Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and DC?

If any states are marked incorrectly please let me know.

Thanks!

I would say D.C. Maryland and V.A. are Mid Atlantic

Maryland, Delaware, and D.C. should be part of the Northeast.

New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada to Mountain West.

The rest of the states are all part of the South, but I know that would be huge, so you could organize them like the Census Bureau and group Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana into a "West South Central" category or maybe just "West South" or "Western South" or something? The rest (Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia) could be part of the "Southeast" or "East South" or "Eastern South." (Kentucky is definitely not Midwestern.) Here, the Mississippi River divides the south into an eastern half and a western half...

Thanks. Here's the final map. This represents which states are a part of which US sections in the forum, not necessarily which states are in whatever geographic or cultural areas of the country.

That looks good. Years ago, there were some very sparse Louisiana threads lumped in with the Texas & Southcentral section, mostly posted in there by mistake, but there were considerably more being posted in the Southeast section. So I posted a poll in the Southeast section asking where they thought the Louisiana threads belonged, and the majority voted for the Southeast section.

It was similar for Arkansas threads. There were a few in the Texas & Southeast section, but there were more in the Southeast. So I moved them to the Southeast section.

Right now the only other state in the Texas & Southcentral section is Oklahoma, but those threads aren't very active and there's maybe only a handful of them. And I just checked, and there's a pretty much inactive Arkansas compilation thread in the Texas & Southcentral section.

Ok

I wonder if we should combine the Southwest and Texas/Southcentral sections.

"SouthSouthwest"

Even just "Southwest" would be more appropriate than keeping them in two separate forums.

Edit: The Bureau of Economic Analysis's "Southwest" region is wholly comprised of OK, TX, NM, and AZ.
