^ In those last pics, Shangri-La vancouver looks exactly like the one in Toronto with the lighting...
On a side note, it's interesting seeing 2 major 5-star hotel brands built in such close proximity with one another. They're basically across the street no?

They are exactly across the street. Can't speak for most cities, but it doesn't seem too uncommon in Vancouver, there isn't a ton of space downtown so the Fairmont Pacific Rim is right next to the pan Pacific which is right next to the Fairmont Waterfront etc...

Generally high end hotels like to cluster but lobbies across the street is a bit unique I suppose.

Haha not what you're thinking, I was at the steelcase showroom looking at office furniture. (Amazing stuff by the way)

Settle the rumour mill down Cal, information will come out when it comes out, and you're reading waaay too much into everything.

This was just a zoning amendment.

Usually, Vancouver kills it with cladding. Now at least Toronto is making it close.

The tower is neat but the area needs more density and variety badly. More 20 story brick/stone traditionally styled buildings would do wonders for the area.

Nonetheless, I am looking forward to see the parkette/water feature/restaurant come together.

Sounds like Bob Cole if you pause between "Cladding" & "there".

I like when buildings have room to breath.

If by "brick/stone traditionally styled buildings" you mean pre-war architecture I doubt we'll see a 20-storey project like that ever built in Toronto (or anywhere else on the planet) again.
