Nice angle!! It’s always crazy to me how much space midtown high rises have between one another. If the soil borings at the lot to the east of 880 west Peachtree turn out to be for another tower, it would be great for infill at this area. Really hoping we something a little unique at that location. With the MARTA station a block off and a healthy amount of retail surrounding, would be nice to see a mix of offices and condos.

The Academy of Medicine sure looks nice in that photo. What a great old building in juxtaposition to the new towers.

It looks like they are starting the retail / office portion soon of the 7th and Peachtree building. This scaffolding wasn't here yesterday:

This reminds me! There was construction occurring at 10th st NW & Hemphill. I was hoping for something with a better residential/foot-traffic presence from Tech, but it appears this the campus safety building. Although a nice greenspace, it's little lackluster for the location to West Midtown. GT has 3 solid blocks at the southeast corner of Northside and 10th street. My hope is one day they try to turn this into another Tech Square, implement better streetscaping along Northside, encourage redevelopment of the gas station, and attract more development to the west, essentially adjoining campus to west midtown.

As big as 725 Ponce is, it doesn't feel overwhelming when you walk by it.

Coda, from 2 days ago, looking south along W. Peachtree

I cannot believe the progress on this guy - they aren't screwing around.

That happens when you have a bunch of signed tenants.

Well, that's part of it.

But no number of tenants can save a project from an incompetent and/or inexperienced developer (see Opus and Eviva).

Eviva was an apartment project. It never had tenants in the first place.

Opus is a large condo project selling 1M+ dollar homes.

You're comparing office developments to residential developments. Not really the same thing.

The fact that my examples weren't the best (they were simply the first that came to mind) doesn't take away from my overall point, that point being having tenants lined up doesn't matter if the developer is poorly managing (or is uncapable of managing) the project.

A better example actually would be West End Summit in Nashville. Both Intercontinental Hotels and HCA had committed to the project, but the developer (Alex Palmer) keep delaying and delaying and delaying for whatever reason. This went on for years (it was proposed in 2008) and they both evetually backed out and the project went nowhere.

Sorry but that's why its a really bad comparison. Opus has to pre-sell enough condos in order to more forward which they are attempting to do. Eviva being an apartment project is all about financing. That might be more comparable but we really have no way of knowing the reasons why it hasn't progressed.

I wonder whatever happened to Opus moving forward without presales. Is that still a thing?

I acknowledge my original examples may not have been the best (they were simply the first that came to mind). But I don't understand how that takes away from my main point (that being having tenants lined up doesn't matter if the developer is poorly managing (or is uncapable of managing) the project).

Now if I offended anyone with my point, that wasn't my intention.

let's start celebrating the new developments and move past the arguments, please. two massive proposals this week and supposedly more big projects coming from downtown. 3000's shown he is/has a reliable source. let's see if we can uncover more of the projects early on. IMO, it's been fun showing friends around places we talk about soil samplings going on, then a few weeks later they come back to me and go "did you see that new proposal?? it was at the site we looked at just recently!
