Don't know. It's still 1,050 ft as far as I know. It's possible that there was a case made when the permit was renewed, maybe they needed an extra 8 ft for mechanical means. Who knows.

It's a very exciting time right now watching these two "fraternal twins" being born...

I thought the same. I was sure Amanda Burden was going to screw it all up.

With Jean Nouvel designing the exterior of this 1,058-foot-high tower at 53 W. 53rd St., and Thierry Despont handling its interior architecture, it’s impossible to ignore
the property’s star quality. And adding to the glitz are three floors of dedicated MoMA exhibition space.

The building will have 139 units from 1,400 to over 7,500 square feet. A number of specific unit and building details have yet to be released, but if the prices are any
indication, this building is going to bolster Midtown’s luxury market in a big way. Asking prices will start at $3 million and go north of $50 million. Keep an eye out for
sales launching this spring. Lucky buyers, your initial occupancy is slated for late 2018.

Interesting... Wilkipedia states that CitySpire on West 56th street exceeded its 'alloted' height by 14 feet and the building had to compensate the city. I wonder what would happen if Tower Verre is indeed 1058 and not 1050?

Definitely my favorite current New York proposal. I love when a skyscraper is open to the public, especially in a manner as functional as annexing the MoMA. The support system in the facade is functional and to the point, but who says that can't be poetic?
