Noob sketches

Hi, I'm Matt and I'm new here. I gotta say this site has made me suddenly happy. I had abandoned my passion for cities, drawing, and drawing cities.
enough of that. I've just downloaded SketchUp and though I had not touched any 3D SW in years I gotta say it's quiet easy, and came up with my first two buildings:

This is the Knock-A-Fella Center and it could really use a base of some sort.

Nice!!! Welcome to Cityscape. I saw your profile when you had 0 posts.
It's great that you're having fun. keep practicing and hope you make more models. It is easy, sometimes.

means a lot coming from you fox, I love Palm Dunes!

I've added the Four Summits Plaza which should look great in glass when rendered. I remember designing that building some 8 years ago during early HS, in paper and balsa model - and it was obviously inspired by a certain bank in Hong Kong.

This is what it looks like bowing from the hotel's observation deck

and looking up

etc

Yeah, try to take it slow or it will go too fast and you will get bored of it. The longer you take the more you want to see something finished. Just don't take too long or it can get boring too.

ok. I believe I'm addicted already!
I AM taking it slow though. First I'm gonna do "superficial" bldngs and later on (prolly after I finish this semester -economics, like shoei yoh) I'll begin doing inner core complete buildings.

Oh, no. I hate doing that!! Well for single buildings it's nice but when you put a city together the core just takes up memory. Actually the Dream Tower in my city (the tallest building) has a core. If you looks closely you might be able to see it and it's a couple of pages back.

This morning I did a new "rationalist" building. I thought of calling it Monticello Plaza, because it's the only with a classical columnade

Should I just make a proper city or am i getting over my head?

Good, make a city because no matter what people almost always end up making cities. It's good to start with a location before you make all your buildings. Make a plan, if you're going to have a marina then make your city next to water with an easy flow design. whatever you want!!

Good Luck!

i know, it was actually my very first structure in sketchup, and it's 900m with the spire, it does not belong

I could use some feedback on Four Summits Plaza

Oh, my gosh!! 900 meters!!!
It's best if you make your city like this:
1 tower over 2,000 feet
2 over 1,500
3 over 1,000
at least 10 over 600 feet
at least 20 over 400 feet
and at least 30 from 1-399 feet.
