You got it backwards, Altus is the tallest with the office portion, Stratus the second tallest.

I think you might be right though, the office portion will have higher ceilings and they may have numbered the floors so that they are in line with the other towers.

It pisses me off, but from the developer perspective, it's win-win... there's no negative downside. Sure it pisses me off, but it won't stop me from buying in that building if everything else meets my needs.

I think it makes sense because as officedweller mentioned the commercial floor heights are higher. If they didn't do this a unit at floor 30 in Altus would be at the same height as a unit at floor 35 in Stratus/Cirrus/Aerius. If you didn't adjust the floor numbers you would have to market an identical unit in Altus at floor 30 at the same price as the unit at floor 35 in the other towers. Yes it can be frustrating because you cannot count the floors on the oustside, but more frustrating is trying to resell a unit in the future and the other guy in the tower a cross the complex is selling the same unit at the same price and 5 numbered floors higher (despite being a the same vertical height).

I remember seeing Solo District for the first time in the New Condo Guide magazine last year and even back then they advertised the floor count being 50+. They do include omitted floors in their ads with this project.

Man, that looks like one cool patio! If only there would be a way to get up there with my camera and tripod once built...

Oh but condos in Burnaby are so much more creative and diverse than ones in Vancouver... Or so I have heard somewhere...

Ad in the Homes and Design magazine in the Sun today had it both ways:

On one page the ad described the amenity club as being "soaring 55 storeys high" atop Burnaby's tallest tower.
On another page it labelled suites on "Levels" 15-48.

Again, probably because the club is 55 stories where each story is defined by a vertical height ~10ft (9ft ceilings in residential units) but there are only 48 actual levels in the building because office level ceilings are >9ft.

Agreed, but interesting that they aren't using the height equivalent for the part where they make the most money - selling the condos themselves.

I think I figured it out... Look at this image

The club is at level 49 but there are 5 floors above... The club looks like it occupies 49-52.

Not sure what those top 3 floors will be for though.

Also just found this:
http://jeffpoh.com/m/altus-at-solo-district

Altus (second tower released) features:

9 foot ceilings
Units start on the 15th level with commercial below with this level being equivalent to 20th level due to height of each commercial floor
Club 55 is the premium, Hottest Rooftop Patio: top floor of building with 5000 square feet of amenity space featuring full kitchen, indoor and outdoor entertaining space
Fitness gym and garden areas
3 eleveators and concierge
Soft close doors and drawers in kitchen with quartz backsplash, stainless steel appliances
and many more features to list
The Club 55 Rooftop Deck at the top of Altus.

Pricing are as follows as of today and will increase when released to Public:

1 bedroom unit 539 sq.ft. starts at $294,900
1 bed and den 539 - 589 sq.ft. start at $304,900
1 bed and sleep/flex which can fit an additional bed at 665 sq.ft. start at $342,900,
2 bedroom 814 - 916 sq.ft. start at $415,900
2 bedroom and den 886 - 940 sq.ft. start at $467,900
2 bedroom and den 834 - 854 sq.ft. on 38th to 46th floor start at $497,900
3 bedroom 1032 sq.ft. start at $544,900
Penthouse 3 bedroom 1390 - 1707 sq.ft. start at $969,900

Looks like just mechanical floors with cladding above the club.

I posted this in the Transit Oriented Development thread in the main Canada section, but I guess I should have posted it here instead.

Anyways, I was looking into this last weekend, but my God! The traffic on this site is horrendous for some reason. I'm sure its just the construction but if not, I guess this is one development that you better be taking transit if you want to live here....

It's always been bad. It's just the result of the intersection at Willingdon. Believe it or not, taking Lougheed is still way faster than Hwy 1 for single occupant drivers during rush hour.

Love the rooftop club. Has a Vegas Voodoo Lounge vibe to it.

traffic has always been bad there since the 90's, burnaby really needs to get the planned roads around costco completed so many cars can by-pass lougheed alltogether
