I don't really remember any deadlines actually being made.

Have we already forgotten how many deadline extensions were given to the City?

Oh that's just Realcity, our resident wet blanket. He was referring to deadlines for site selection in 2009 and 2010. Once it is out of the hands of the City of Hamilton I'm sure the planning has been much smoother.

How do you know it's delayed? Tell us what you know. Will it take until October now?

Speaking of the Regina proposal: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sport...rticle4555430/

Some choice quotes:

Quote:
The City of Regina has unveiled concept drawings of a proposed 33,000-seat stadium that would be home to the Saskatchewan Roughriders football team.

The design shows a sunken bowl-type stadium that would be located on Evraz Place lands, near where Mosaic Stadium now stands.
...
Gone would be the bench-style seating in Mosaic Stadium.
...
The concept design has cost the city $575,000 so far.

Deputy city manager Brent Sjoberg said the concept gives people an idea of what can be done for $278 million.
So they're going to be almost a third larger, but it will cost significantly more.

Are they going to be playing an "away" season as well, or is there another large enough stadium in Regina?

The proposal is for a stadium near the current one, but not on the exact same site. I believe they are planning on keeping the old one open until the new one is complete, and it seems that it will take longer than a season for construction to take place. They actually just performed some renovations to the old one, adding some seating and upgrading the video boards.

Here's a link to todays Spec story speculating about the new stadium. It even mentions the high school stadium that I posted a link to earlier in the discussion as a model for what we might be getting. The roll out here for our new stadium design is supposed to be Oct 12.

Stay tuned for the following delay. We'll be lucky if it's revealed before December 1. I think this is Troop doing it back to Council. Meanwhile TO2015 already has the winning design/build team selected, they're probably working on the deliverables and logistics to begin, all that before we even see the powerpoint. Because it will be so far into development and this has to built in 18 months, no chance for the City to politicize it. Keep Council out of this as much as possible is what I say. Staff has been involved, with super competent bidders, that's good enough for me.

I'll say it....

No roof, no end zone seating, more washrooms, better concession stands. Pimped up version of BMO.

I've got it here, word for word...

The design looks alright - don't be getting your hopes up for anything aesthetically pleasing though.

Improved concessions and washrooms are good.

No roof - no seats behind each goal.

Think along the lines of a souped up BMO
