Wow. Pretty bad. If they removed those bizarre fins it would be remotely less ugly.

I remember when the Transamerica pyramid building went up in San Francisco many years ago. All the snooty, self-appointed architecture critics all hated it. Now its an icon and the city loves it. Most critics are stuck in a narrow rut and dont really know what will be loved in years to come.

The same thing will happen to the Megapolis and all you tasteless clowns will be laughed at.

See, the difference between those snooty, self-appointed architecture critics is that 97% of this site isn't one of them (myself included). The Transamerica Pyramid is a while different style with an entire different purpose. This thing is a giant fat box with an M outline. It doesn't have taste, it's not good looking, and it's not original (the giant M is being done in Moscow and it looks 1000 times better than this building).

Panama is a really nice city and this thing ruins the skyline, especially because it's over 1000 ft tall. They need to keep building Ice Tower, Arts Tower, The Point, Trump Panama, Torre Vitri, these towers are good looking. Megapolis is tacky.

Also, the diagram section says that this tower is 755 ft tall. The height was reduced or what? And if so, can we get some sources?

same ole, same ole

The same comments were made about the Transamerica being tacky, weird, too tall and out of place. Now its an icon. Your comments about different purpose etc. are nonsensical and show that you just dont like Megapolis and I think my point holds. You were probably not even born when the SF thing was going on so you wouldnt know that you sound like a retread of that time.

You dont like the M, thats cool, nobody says you have to. But in years to come you will see how provincial you sounded today.

I would wager that you havent even been to Panama City to see what would actually look good, sitting in front of a computer isnt like actually walking the neighborhood!

Did you seriously just compare this building to the Transamerica?

The Transamerica Building has a unique design that had never been attempted before. Sure there were going to be people critical of it.

This building on the other hand offers nothing new. It's big, bland and tall.

Aleks, if you go search for some renderings, you can see that this was originally slated to be two towers. The one they are building is the shorter one (755ft).

I actually think that if only the shorter tower is built, this thing may not end up such an eyesore. It's a total departure from most PC towers in that it's so linear. Most of the towers in PC are slender with just a couple of units per floor. This thing is going to be brutal in terms of cast shadows.

My apologies to voiceofreason, but this thing isn't even in the same league as any of those buildings you've brought up for comparison...and it doesn't appear that the main tower is being built anyway...

I remember seeing a model of this building in Multiplaza. Butt ugly but cool in a way since it's so odd.

This tower is the shorter ~200m part of the project, when does the taller 300m+ part start rising?
