That train engine out there by the docks is so cool... all those rivets and
muscle, I'm sure it was a real work horse in it's day.

Those AT&SF steam locomotives were real beasts...both of those were built during World War II, components for diesel locomotives were scarce so they built some big heavy steam locomotives instead. For non-articulated locomotives they're pretty gigantic.

They were moved out of the Shops area to make way for toxic soil remediation: some of the collection was given to other railroad museums, while others will be shuffled around in Old Sacramento and wherever else they can be spotted along the SSRR main.

Does anyone have a picture of new Crocker construction?
I drive through I5 everyday and quite of bit of steel has already gone up.

I must say that the lighting on 500 Cap in this photo is phenomenal!
Is this photo shopped?
I really do think despite it's lack of style, in this photo it looks great!

No, this photo was not adjusted in Photoshop; I take nearly all my photos with
manual settings. Right now the fall evening lights are really pure and the air has
been cleaned by the rain last week, so that really improves the quality of the
photo too. This shot was taken with the ISO at 200, F/11, with the shutter
open for 4.10 sec. The pano above still needs some work, that was put together
with three shots and I still need to learn how to do that better.

I really like the panoramic shot looking north from 500 CM, innov8. With the wide-angle lens Downtown Plaza looks twice as large as the entire Railyards! And I like 555 CM with its new lens-induced curve.

Thanks Phillip. Here's a close-up of the railyards... this is four photos merged together.

Nice! I think I see my car on I-5. It seems like a high floor in the Justice Building would be a good spot for capturing panoramic views of the whole Railyards. Probably very difficult, or impossible, to get permission to shoot from there though.

Your right, I have tried by speaking to the head of security over there and
they don't care. I have found that all State and Fed. building are impossible to
get into, where as private buildings are flexible and usually understand my intentions.
The Justice Building would be perfect for a whole alot of different angles.
