Why is the new portion of the facade along Bank set back more than the heritage facades? IMO this creates a discontinuity that disrupts the flow of "Main Street" feel of Bank.

I hadn't seen that on my quick glimpse through the development application, which concerned me as it is something that is key. The brick facades are something that are an essential component the length of Bank Street, and especially on the edge of the CBD should be preserved.

I definately like it - reasonably not glass-boxish.

Some of the architectural styling seems similar to the EDC building. It might be nice to see a bit of a typical "Ottawa" style of architecture without that being (once again) glass-boxish (or worse, teal glass-boxish).

Even that hideous building at the corner of Bank and Laurier is partially redeemed (i.e., swallowed into a continous street wall) by this design. Phenomenal.
It will complement the Telus Building and Mondrian quite well.

Agreed, looks good! The architect for this one is B+H Architects (Bergman + Hamann), who also designed 131 Queen.

Also, the height in 69.60 m

Ah life in the age of glass and steel. Raise your glass to another grand dame's arrival at the raging party that is the Downtown Ottawa renaissance. You know what I love most about this building? The fact that the old red brick buildings get restored to their original look. There are so many decent, utilitarian heritage buildings downtown that have the ground floor facade ruined by stucco/plaster/neon crap that totally hide its' true character. Let's hope they scrape all the junk off the exterior like the renderings suggest.
